The deal between Samsung TV Plus and NBCUniversal allows both of Letterman’s late-night shows to be paired together. Letterman TV, first launched in 2024, already includes episodes of The Late Show, which is owned by Letterman’s production company, Worldwide Pants Incorporated. Letterman TV now features carefully curated content from his 33 years and more than 6,000 episodes on late-night television, across his NBC and CBS eras—all in one place, no subscription needed.
To kick off the new era, Letterman TV will roll out “landmark” episodes of Late Night, including his inaugural episode featuring guest Bill Murray, his one-year anniversary episode, and themed episodes “Camping with Barry White” and “Humidifier vs. Dehumidifier.” Monthly, more episodes will be added, which will also include best-of packages featuring Steve Martin, Pee-wee Herman, and Andy Kaufman.
David Letterman’s Late Night History Enshrined On Samsung TV Plus
When Late Night debuted, the hope was to resurrect Letterman’s previous morning show and launch it into nighttime for a late-night audience. The show included a house band, led by Paul Shaffer. It served as the companion series to Johnny Carson‘s The Tonight Show. When Letterman was passed over for Jay Leno to take over Carson’s spot, he moved over to CBS to create The Late Show. Following Letterman’s departure from NBC, Conan O’Brien took over the hosting role. From there, it was Jimmy Fallon and then Seth Meyers. Meanwhile, The Late Show has only ever had two hosts: Letterman and Stephen Colbert. CBS announced this summer that it would cancel the talk show in May 2026 after 33 years.
