Glenn and Mick’s celebrity intervention launches on Seven

Carrie Bickmore is set to be grilled over her “nude” moments tonight, with her own son leading the interrogation on national TV.

The TV and radio host will appear as the first guest on comedians Glenn Robbins and Mick Molloy’s new Channel 7 series, where celebrities are put under the spotlight by those who know them best.

In the first episode of Glenn & Mick’s Celebrity Intervention, Bickmore’s son Ollie is seated in the audience and jokingly confronts his mum about some questionable social media footage.

“Seeing you dressed as a lifeguard made me want to drown,” he says, referring to footage of Bickmore running along the beach in a Baywatch-esque red swimsuit.

Speaking on Sunrise on Monday, the comedians said Bickmore faces the music tonight but “gives as good as she gets”.

“Don’t worry about that, she goes down swinging,” Molloy said.

“We learn a bit more about Carrie that we didn’t previously know.

“We ask questions like: ‘Why did Peter Helliar find your bra in his car?’”

Robbins then added there’s a story about ‘nudity’ that comes up during Bickmore’s intervention.

“She has an incredible passion for nudity,” he added, jokingly.

“And how confronting it was for her son.”

Robbins went on to reveal Bickmore’s son hilariously challenges her during the show by asking his mother: “Why do you appear nude in front of my friends, even when you’re heavily pregnant?”

“And her answer is astonishing,” Robbins said.

The new series, hosted by Robbins and Molloy alongside a rotating guest co-host, sees a celebrity’s closest friends, family and colleagues revisit their highs, lows and more cringeworthy moments in a comedic ‘intervention’.

Speaking on Sunrise ahead of the premiere, Robbins explained the concept.

“When someone has some stuff going on, they need an intervention,” Robbins said.

“And people who care about them, they bring them in and put them up on the grill.

“They found out what’s really happening for them and they feel better for it.”

Molloy added: “I’m really happy to be on the other side of an intervention, for once. I’m normally the subject it.”

He said the show is all done with “love”, while still giving fans a deeper look into their favourite celebrities.

Sunrise host Matt Shirvington also asked whether any guests had taken offence to the on-air interrogations.

Robbins revealed comedian Dave Hughes was “carried out on a stretcher” and that “there was no shortage of people queuing up to put the boots in with that guy”.
