Royal fans believe Meghan Markle focused on an “irrelevant” detail in her tribute post to Dr Jane Goodall. Dr Jane Goodall DBE, UN Messenger of Peace and founder of the Jane Goodall Institute, passed away on October
Tributes have been flooding in from celebrities, including Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. In their tribute post, they wrote: “Dr. Jane Goodall DBE was a visionary humanitarian, scientist, friend to the planet, and friend to us. Her commitment to changing lives extends beyond what the world saw, and also to what we personally felt. She held our son, Archie, when he was first born, and showered love and care to those who were privileged to know her. She will be deeply missed.”
Fans are annoyed her humanitarian work was overlooked and instead the Sussexes placed detail on Dr Goodall “holding Archie”. One user on X wrote: “That’s what those 2 clowns decide to mention-an irrelevant humblebrag. That’s how important they think they are, and have to let us all think they were SUCH good friends that she held Archie.”
Another user wrote: “Instead of celebrating Jane Goodall’s outstanding work, she has to point out ‘she was a friend to us’ as if that’s some great achievement. Who cares, she must’ve been friends with loads of people.”
One X user said: “Such a tribute to a very close friend who held their son when he was born… ummm I’ve tried but couldn’t see her at their wedding could someone point her out please …”
Another said: “Typical of them to make the passing of an accomplished lady about them!”
The Sussexes welcomed Dame Jane to their then-home at Frogmore Cottage in 2019 where she cuddled their baby son Archie, then just five weeks old.

The Prince of Wales has also said she inspired him personally and “her boundless curiosity, compassion and pioneering spirit transformed our understanding of the natural world”.Prince William said “the world has lost an extraordinary voice” in a post on X, adding: “she challenged us all to make a difference and inspired me and countless others to work to protect our planet. Jane Goodall made a difference.”
Dr Goodall died of natural causes while in California on a speaking tour of the US, according to a statement from the Jane Goodall Institute.
Many other public figures as well as global organisations have praised Dr Goodall’s legacy, including Sir David Attenborough.
