Exclusive: The palace dread that won’t go away
The Royal Family may have learned to expect surprises from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle — but one former palace insider says there’s still one thing that keeps them up at night: another bombshell tell-all.
Grant Harrold, who served as a butler to King Charles, has spoken out about the Sussexes’ decision to extend their mega-money Netflix contract — a fresh multi-year “first-look” deal giving the streaming giant exclusive rights to approve or reject their projects before anyone else.
A $100 Million History
Back in 2020, shortly after stepping down as working royals, Harry and Meghan signed a jaw-dropping deal reportedly worth over $100 million. It led to a string of productions — from Harry & Meghan (which drew an astonishing 23.4 million viewers in its first four days) to the documentary Heart of Invictus and lifestyle content under Meghan’s creative touch.
Now, five years later, they’re doubling down — with Meghan promising their expanded partnership will deliver “thoughtful content across genres” through their Archewell Productions banner.
The Palace’s Quiet Panic
While the couple insists their new projects will be inspiring and uplifting, Harrold told The Mirror the palace’s top worry is clear: “Their biggest concern will be another tell-all documentary on their fallouts with the family.”
According to him, courtiers fear a repeat of the couple’s explosive 2022 Netflix series, which openly chronicled royal tensions. Any fresh round of personal revelations could further damage fragile relations — and shatter any hopes of reconciliation.
Treading Carefully… Maybe
Still, Harrold believes the Sussexes might be more cautious this time. “I do think they will start being more careful not to cause further upset,” he said, adding that any misstep could “impact ongoing attempts to build bridges.”
His take? The Royals have stopped being shocked by Harry and Meghan’s moves — but they’re watching closely for signs of another family-focused bombshell.
What’s Coming Next
Netflix viewers won’t have to wait long for the Sussexes’ next splash. This month brings season two of Meghan’s lifestyle show With Love, Meghan, promising “fun and heartwarming” episodes filled with celebrity chefs, creative adventures, and plenty of laughter.
Behind the scenes, the couple reportedly have multiple projects in development — but whether they’ll stay light and breezy or edge toward royal controversy remains the question keeping palace aides on alert.
The Bottom Line
For the Windsors, it’s not the cooking segments or polo documentaries that worry them — it’s the possibility that, once again, Harry and Meghan might turn the cameras back on the family. And if history is any guide, Netflix viewers would be watching.
