Theo, just four years old, suffers from a severe heart condition and may have only months left to live. But thanks to the efforts of Pete, Dogs Trust, and the Mirror, this gentle giant is now settling into a forever home with Natalie, Darren, and their young son Fin in Worcestershire.

A Mission of Love

Pete, 37, had been desperate to make sure Theo didn’t spend his last days in kennels. The reality  TV star even offered to cover all of Theo’s medical expenses personally.

Speaking after the heartwarming adoption, Pete — who is a Dogs Trust Ambassador — admitted he was overwhelmed with emotion:

👉 “I couldn’t be happier that Theo has found a new home. He’s such a big softie and deserves to be in a home filled with love. Knowing he’ll be surrounded by people who adore him means the world to me, and to everyone who followed his journey.”

“We Knew He Belonged With Us”

Theo’s new owner, Natalie, explained why they opened their hearts to him:

👉 “We’ve always had big dogs. After losing our beloved Mastiff, Freya, we wanted to welcome another gentle giant. The moment I saw Theo, I just knew we could love him. He’s such a beautiful dog — how could anyone not want to give him a home?”

Though they understand his health is fragile, the family is determined to give Theo the happiest days possible.

👉 “We’re realistic about his condition and know our hearts will break one day. But for now, we’re enjoying his personality and making the most of every moment. He’s already proving to be a wonderful addition to our family.”

From Stray to Beloved Companion

Pete first met Theo after he was brought to Dogs Trust Kenilworth in Warwickshire as a severely underweight stray. With love and care, Theo recovered, now weighing a healthy 52kg. His journey will be documented in the upcoming series Pete Wicks: For Dogs’ Sake.

Emma-Jane Thomas, Rehoming Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Kenilworth, added:

👉 “Theo is one of those dogs who leaves a pawprint on your heart. Seeing him finally settled into a loving home is the happy ending we all hoped for. His story reminds us that every dog, no matter their age, health, or past, deserves a chance at happiness.”

Now, in the twilight of his life, Theo is finally where he belongs — surrounded by family, affection, and endless belly rubs. For Pete, for Dogs Trust, and for everyone touched by Theo’s story, it’s proof that even in heartbreak, there can be beauty.
