Michael Schumacher’s daughter, Gina-Maria, is poised to launch a YouTube channel that could potentially provide updates on her father’s health. Gina, 28, is Michael’s eldest child with wife Corinna Betsch, and they also have a son, Mick, 26. The Schumacher family has faced significant challenges since Michael’s devastating skiing accident in Meribel, France, in December 2013, with information about his current condition being extremely limited.

The Formula 1 legend strayed off-piste and hit his head on a rock, despite wearing a helmet. The German hero was then airlifted to hospital and placed in a medically induced coma for several months before being moved to the family home at Lake Geneva, where he now resides with 24-hour medical care. Reports suggest his life is incredibly challenging, with a team of people caring for him. It’s also believed that Schumacher is bed-bound and unable to communicate verbally.

Gina, who frequently displays her equestrian skills on Instagram, has kept quiet about her father’s health, upholding the family’s commitment to privacy. The teaser for her new YouTube channel features Gina with her horses and friends, but so far, it does not indicate any insight into her father’s life or health status.

Gina, now residing in Switzerland, is recognised as an accomplished athlete in her own right. Speaking to German broadcaster NDR, she disclosed that whilst she attempted karting, it was the equestrian world that captivated her, stating she “preferred horses”.

Western riding has proved a rewarding pursuit for Gina. She secured a gold medal at the FEI World Reining Championships in Switzerland in August 2017.

She claimed another gold at the National Reining Horse Association’s novice Cavalli in February 2018. She also triumphed at the World Championships for junior riders in 2018.

Gina wed her long-term partner, Iain Bethke, in 2024. Further happiness arrived in 2025 when she revealed on Instagram that they had welcomed their first child together.

Gina reportedly tied the knot with Bethke at the Schumacher family’s lavish villa in Majorca. The ceremony reportedly attracted an exclusive guest list, including Michael’s brother, Ralf, and his partner, Etienne Bosquet-Cassagne.

German publication BILD claimed that to maintain privacy during the celebration, guests were requested to surrender their phones, though this has since been disputed.

Gina seldom discusses her father publicly, but she posted a heartfelt tribute with a birthday message last year on social media that read: “Happy B-Day to the best Dad,” alongside the message: “#keepfighting.”

In a 2021 documentary, Michael Schumacher’s wife Corinna outlined the family’s stance. She said: “We’re trying to carry on as a family, the way Michael liked it and still does. Michael always protected us, and now we are protecting Michael.”

Schumacher’s manager Sabine Kehm has remained steadfast in her commitment to privacy, saying: “Michael’s health is not a public issue, and so we will continue to make no comment in that regard.”
