Cops, firefighters and paramedics swarmed the scene shortly after the collapse, working together to secure the area and make it safe.

Five people managed to scramble out of the building before firefighters arrived, it’s understood.

Three people suffered injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.

The Sun understands that Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service are investigating a potential gas leak that may have caused the collapse.

Crowds of people have been seen watching on from beyond the cordon, which stretches from Union Street to Manchester Street.

The building that collapsed is understood to be the Euro King Mini Market on Kings Street, reports Manchester Evening News.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “We are currently responding to a partial building collapse on King Street, Oldham.

“Officers are on scene with other emergency services working together to ensure the safety of the public.

“A number of road closures are in place and we would ask people avoid the area where possible. Thanks for your patience.”

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed crews were called at around 12.40pm.

Three fire engines were sent to tackle the incident.

A spokesperson added: “Firefighters are working alongside GMP and North West Ambulance Service to make the area safe.

“Five people self-evacuated from the building before fire service arrival.

“Crews remain in attendance at this time.”
