Prince Harry has announced an “exciting new chapter” as he revealed his Invictus Games will come to Asia for the first time.
The Duke of Sussex, 41, said he was “delighted” to bring Invictus, which supports wounded and injured veterans, to Daejeon in South Korea in 2029.
Announcing the news on Monday as founding patron of the foundation, Harry, who is married to Meghan Markle, said: “Today’s announcement is a defining moment for the Invictus Movement.
“We are delighted to announce Daejeon, South Korea as the host of the 2029 Invictus Games and, on behalf of the Invictus Games Foundation, we are so excited to work together.

Prince Harry has revealed the next location of the Invictus Games
“As the first Asian nation selected to host the Games, the Republic of Korea represents an exciting new chapter in our journey to ensure that more wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans can benefit from the power of sport and the strength of the Invictus community.”
Daejeon was selected as the host city following a “competitive international bidding process”. It is South Korea’s fifth largest city, with a population of 1.5 million.
The event will take place from 6 to 15 October 2029 and comprise of 12 sports, with around 550 competitors taking part from 26 nations supported by 1,100 family members and friends.
What are the Prince Harry’s Invictus Games?
Harry founded the Invictus Games in London in 2014.
The competition aims to challenge “perceptions of disability, champion adaptive sport, and demonstrate the resilience, determination and unconquered spirit of wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans,” according to a release from the Foundation.

The next Games are scheduled for Birmingham in 2027. Prince Harry visited the UK earlier this month for the competition’s one-year-to-go events.
During his visit, he reunited with his father, King Charles, marking the first time his children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, had seen their grandfather since 2022.
Prince Harry reignites his security battle
Prince Harry is said to be feeling “buoyed” and “energised” following the family reunion, and is hoping for more in the future, HELLO! understands.

Harry is hoping to get security for his family in the UK
It means he has reignited his security quest and will continue in his bid to reinstate his taxpayer-funded security.
A source told HELLO!: “He will pursue it until RAVEC agree to enact the terms of reference that were made clear in front of a judge in the judicial review. It’s about the Home Office doing what they committed to in court.”
That includes convening a Risk Management Board to assess threats against him. HELLO! understands Harry has not undergone one for seven years.
