WARNING! This article contains SPOILERS for Wednesday season 2, part 1!While the majority of the original main actors are back, Wednesday season 2 is notably missing one of the biggest season 1 cast members. After playing a crucial role as a love interest, family friend, and fellow psychic for the titular character in season 1, Percy Hynes White’s Xavier Thorpe is completely absent from Wednesday season 2’s cast.
The announcement that Hynes White’s Xavier wouldn’t return in season 2 was made back in May 2024, arriving amid teases that the series would be moving away from Wednesday Addams’ divisive love triangle. However, since Xavier still had more story setup in Wednesday season 1’s ending as the students departed school, season 2 makes sure to directly address why he’s no longer at Nevermore.
Xavier’s Father Pulled Him Out Of Nevermore After Season 1’s Murders
Vincent Thorpe Refused To Sent Xavier Back After He Was Accused Of Murder

As the Outcasts return to Nevermore Academy for the new school year, Wednesday Addams learns that her friend Xavier won’t be joining them. In Wednesday season 2, episode 1, Barry Dort asks Morticia to take over as the chair of the Gala Fundraising Committee, a position previously held by Xavier’s father, the mysterious Vincent Thorpe.
Dort elaborates that the position is vacant now because Vincent Thorpe pulled both Xavier and his endowment from the school. According to Dort, the decision to have Xavier leave Nevermore was made after he was falsely accused of murder, resulting in Xavier being briefly jailed in Wednesday season 1 before Tyler/The Hyde was revealed as the monster.

That looks to be the official end of Xavier’s role in Wednesday’s story, as he’ll be going to school in Europe while Wednesday and her Nevermore classmates spend the next three years in Vermont. However, it’s always possible that Wednesday could still introduce Vincent Thorpe at some point in the show’s future.
Percy Hynes White Was Confirmed To Not Be Returning For Wednesday Season 2 In May 2024
Netflix Hasn’t Given An Official Reason

In May 2024, Netflix confirmed that Percy Hynes White wouldn’t return for Wednesday season 2. Netflix hasn’t given an official reason for Hynes White’s absence, so it’s unconfirmed whether they’re connected, but the major cast exit followed the actor’s year-long online controversy.
In January 2023, allegations surfaced online regarding Percy Hynes White being accused of sexual assault. Hynes White subsequently denied the abuse allegations, stating in part, “Someone I’ve never met started a campaign of misinformation about me online.”
While the cast and crew have avoided commenting on why the actor is missing from season 2, they have addressed how the character’s absence affects the story. For instance, Wednesday’s lead cast member Jenna Ortega commented on Hynes White’s absence in August 2024, stating it’s “a weird redirect, but we’re introducing so many characters that I think it will kind of get lost.”
Wednesday Season 2 Still Involves Xavier In The New Murder Mystery
Xavier Helps Reveal A Major Villain Detail

While Percy Hynes White and Xavier are physically absent from Wednesday season 2, the new episodes do still involve him in the murder mystery. Near the end of Wednesday season 2, episode 1, Wednesday receives a note from Xavier explaining that he tried to text her, but she must have lost the phone he gave her (in reality, she dropped it in boiling liquid).
As a goodbye gift, Xavier sends Wednesday a painting of a one-eyed crow he saw in a psychic vision, elaborating that he doesn’t know what it means, but is sure that it’s connected to her. Considering Xavier had numerous paintings of the Hyde monster back in Wednesday season 1, his painting of the one-eyed crow validated Wednesday’s suspicions about its deeper connection to the murders in Jericho.
