Trump had one question about the potential press secretary

PRESIDENT Donald Trump might have suggested someone else for Karoline Leavitt’s position, according to a bombshell report.

Before 27-year-old Leavitt took the podium as the White House press secretary, Trump reportedly had a controversial right-wing personality in mind for the job.

The president initially had his eye on MAGA firebrand Laura Loomer, 32, for the position, according to a new book by journalists Josh Dawsey, Tyler Pager, and Isaac Arnsdorf.

2024: How Trump Retook the White House and the Democrats Lost America details Trump’s road to his second presidential term, according to the Daily Mail.

When Trump considered who would face the media in his White House briefing room, he reportedly had Loomer, a conservative influencer known for spreading conspiracy theories, at the top of his list.

“Many of Trump’s advisers viewed Loomer as too-conspiracy-minded and pugilistic, but he liked her,” the book said.

The book also says Trump once asked his advisers, “Is she too fringe to be press secretary?”

Trump’s advisers clearly talked him down from the decision as he announced Leavitt would be taking on the role after election day.

Loomer previously said she wasn’t officially joining Trump’s team and would only join him at certain events “as a guest.”

Some of Trump’s allies distanced themselves from Loomer due to her inflammatory rhetoric, including when she posted a vile “good riddance” message after a Democratic congresswoman died last year.

Trump publicly disagreed with Loomer after she launched racist attacks on Kamala Harris during her presidential run against Trump last year.

During Harris’ campaign, Loomer wrote that if Harris beat out Trump for president, “the White House will smell like curry & White House speeches will be facilitated via a call center.”

Harris is biracial. Her father is a Black Jamaican-born economist and her mother was an Indian-born scientist.

Trump wrote on Truth Social at the time that he disagreed with Loomer’s statements, but didn’t clarify which comments he denied.

However, Trump has maintained a closer relationship with Loomer throughout his presidency.

SECURITY ‘RECOMMENDATIONS’

Back in April, she encouraged Trump to fire National Security Council officials after the Signal scandal where a journalist was mistakenly added to a group chat where security officials discussed military plans.

After an Oval Office meeting with Trump and top White House officials, Loomer tweeted that she reported “disloyal” staffers to the president.

Trump denied that Loomer had anything to do with the firings.

He then called her a “very good patriot and a very strong person.”

The president then told reporters that Loomer had only made suggestions.

“Sometimes I listen to those recommendations, like I do with everybody,” Trump said at the time.

“She’s usually very constructive. She recommended certain people for jobs.”

Trump announced Leavitt’s appointment in November after she worked as the national press secretary throughout his 2024 campaign.

“Karoline is smart, tough, and has proven to be a highly effective communicator,” Trump said in a statement at the time.

“I have the utmost confidence she will excel at the podium and help deliver our message to the American people.”

The Trump administration didn’t immediately return The U.S. Sun’s request for comment.
