Kimmie has only just begun to step into her power. See for yourself in the teaser and first-look photos.

Yeah, you heard Horace (Ricco Ross) right in the finale of Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black: there’s a new Bellarie family matriarch in town. Part 2 of the sizzling drama ended with the mother of all cliff-hangers — literally — as Chicago club dancer Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams) was announced as his new wife, aka the new woman leading the Beauty in Black empire. And now you’ll be able to follow her journey in Season 2, which comes to Netflix on Sept. 11. Until then, watch the teaser above and scroll through some first-look photos.

“By the end of the season, Kimmie is on the verge of discovering a whole new level of power,” Williams previously told Tudum. But Kimmie’s ascension is only just beginning, because Beauty in Black will officially return for a second season, released in two parts just like the first.

“We left fans on the edge of their seats at the end of Season 1, and we’re thrilled to continue Kimmie’s journey as she steps into her power as the newest member of the Bellarie family,” Perry tells Tudum. “Kimmie exemplifies the spirit of never underestimating the underdog, and I can’t wait for fans to continue to see her story unfold. If you thought Season 1 was a wild ride, you’re not ready for Season 2.”

Season 1 ends with Bellarie patriarch Horace marrying Kimmie in a ploy to leave her his inheritance, as she’s perhaps the only person he trusts. “Sons, this is your new stepmother,” he tells his shocked spoiled heirs, Roy (Julian Horton) and Charles (Steven G. Norfleet), from his hospital bed. “Oh yes — and she’s also your new boss.”

This doesn’t sit well with the rest of the wealthy family, either — particularly his beauty mogul daughter-in-law Mallory (Crystle Stewart), his ex-wife Olivia (Debbi Morgan), and brother Norman (Richard Lawson). We can’t forget Bellarie head of security Jules (Charles Malik Whitfield), Kimmie’s former boss, who you’d better believe didn’t see this coming.

As for what Kimmie’s new marriage spells out for the Bellaries? You’ll just have to tune in for Season 2. Season 1 was all about Kimmie protecting her loved ones when the world does them wrong. “It’s only when the people she loves are affected that she taps into her true power. We see that begin to surface after Rain (Amber Reign Smith) gets hurt, but it fully shifts when her sister is pulled into this world during Part 2,” says Williams. And now that she’ll have the power of the Bellarie name behind her, there’s nothing stopping Kimmie from taking what’s hers.

Get into all the Beauty in Black drama now, only on Netflix. Keep coming back to Tudum for more updates on Season 2 before Part 1 is released on Sept. 11.
