Fans of the popular Netflix series Ginny and Georgia were left stunned at the end of the third season, following a major plot twist involving Georgia Randolph (played by Brianne Howey).

After escaping from prison with the help of Ginny’s (Antonia Gentry) intricate plan, Georgia’s children were returned to her. However, she did not get the happy ending she had hoped for.

In addition to potentially facing the wrath of her estranged family, Georgia discovered she might be pregnant, despite having lied to Paul (Scott Porter) about carrying his child.

Although the series was initially renewed for a fourth and final season in May 2023, creator Sarah Lampert has reconsidered the show’s future, stating she would be open to a fifth season if Netflix permits it.

Despite initially planning to conclude the series with four seasons, Lampert revealed to Deadline that the writers have come up with more storylines to explore, reports the Manchester Evening News.

However, she acknowledged that the ultimate decision rests with Netflix, and she is unable to control whether the show gets renewed. She stated: “I always thought it would end at season four, just because I knew what the ending was, let’s say, but what we’re finding in the writers’ room for this season is that there’s actually more there.

“And it would almost feel rushed to get to that ending for it to happen in four. I’m not Netflix. I can’t control whether or not there’s a season five, but I would say what we discovered very early on in the season four’s writers’ room is, oh, there’s more story here.”

The writers’ room for season four is buzzing with creativity, as described by Lampert who said it was “so alive”, mentioning its dynamic nature as “ever-growing, ever morphing”.

Details about the upcoming season four are sparse, but it’s expected to pick up from Georgia’s jaw-dropping revelation possibly addressing a pregnancy cliffhanger.

Audiences are also keen to follow Ginny’s rekindled relationship with Marcus (Felix Mallard), while Austin’s (Diesel La Torraca) choices may bring him regret as he reflects on his decision to incriminate his father for Georgia’s crimes.

Adding to the intrigue, Gentry hinted at a major character development, revealing to Netflix’s Tudum, “Ginny is fully turning into Georgia by the end of the season. That is a brand-new character aspect that we haven’t seen before.”

While fans eagerly wait, the official release date for season four remains under wraps.
