Smell that? It’s that familiar salty ocean air, and that can only mean one thing: Summer is here! For fans of Netflix’s Virgin River, the arrival of the season usually comes with an exciting update on their favorite feel-good drama, which traditionally films during the spring. And right on cue, that update has arrived: Virgin River has officially wrapped production on Season 7. Several cast members took to social media to celebrate the news, including Colin Lawrence, who plays John Middleton, aka Preacher, on the series.“And that, my friends, is a wrap on Season 7 for John ‘Preacher’ Middleton,” Lawrence announced in a heartfelt video posted to Instagram. “Oh gosh, what can I tell you? Another stellar season, in my humble opinion. This show has been the most fun to work on. I’ve been so blessed to have been a part of this for the last seven seasons.” Though production on Season 7 is now complete, Lawrence made it clear he’s not ready to say goodbye to the show just yet, adding, “fingers crossed, more to come.” The actor also promised fans an emotional ride ahead, teasing, “You’re really going to enjoy it this season. There’s more laughs, there’s more tears, there’s just a lot of emotion, and I really can’t wait to share with you.”
With filming now wrapped, the next big question on everyone’s minds is: When will Season 7 premiere? Netflix hasn’t revealed a date just yet, and even Lawrence admitted he’s in the dark, adding, “But you’re gonna have to wait until that release date. Don’t know when it is, but when I find out, hopefully you’ll find out. Until then, be kind to each other, and yeah, thanks for tuning in.” Other stars who also celebrated the wrap with fans included Benjamin Hollingsworth, Annette O’Toole, and Zibby Allen. Allen shared a photo carousel on her Instagram featuring Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson, who play the show’s central couple, Melinda and Jack Sheridan.
What to Expect From ‘Virgin River’ Season 7
Season 7 won’t feature a time jump, but will pick up directly from the dramatic events of the Season 6 finale. While fans can expect to be reunited with their favorite couples and romances, much of the upcoming drama will center on Doc’s (Tim Matheson) medical practice, which is now under investigation following the suspension of his license.
A key figure in those investigations will be a new recurring character named Victoria, played by The Vampire Diaries alum Sara Canning. She is a former cop who began working as an investigator for the state medical board after being shot in the line of duty. Also joining the cast is Riverdale’s Cody Kearsley as Clay, a rugged rodeo worker on a mission to find his long-lost sister.
