As the Duffer Brothers wrap their hit Netflix series, they are looking to adapt Ron Currie’s crime thriller novel The Savage, Noble Death of Babs Dionne, next for Netflix, according to Deadline. The script will be penned by the novelist and his writing partner Joshua Mohr, who will also serve as executive producers.
The Savage, Noble Death of Babs Dionne revolves around its namesake, a small-town grandmother and crime matriarch, who navigates unusual circumstances while trying to uncover the circumstances surrounding her youngest daughter’s death. In addition to this, the Duffer brothers also have two other Netflix shows coming in 2026.

The next Duffer brothers series to arrive on Netflix sees them put on the producers’ hat in collaboration with Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews on their supernatural mystery series The Boroughs. Slated to premiere next year, the series takes place in a gorgeous retirement community in the New Mexico desert and stars Alfred Molina, Geena David, and Alfre Woodard, among others.
However, this doesn’t mean that the Duffer brothers are done with Stranger Things. Even though the flagship is coming to an end, the universe is quietly expanding. The animated spinoff Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 is currently in development, as well as a live-action spinoff.
Our Take On The Duffer Brothers’ New Project
The Duffer Brothers Step Out Of The Supernatural Genre With Babs Dionne

While the Duffer brothers have been working on other projects in between Stranger Things seasons, The Savage, Noble Death of Babs Dionne sounds like a pivot for the creative duo after their successful coming-of-age horror series. On the other hand, the crime thriller series isn’t the brothers’ first adaptation project, nor will it be the last.
Matt and Ross Duffer have served as writers and producers on Wayward Pines, based on Blake Crouch’s post-apocalyptic mystery novel series. They are working to adapt Stephen King and Peter Straub’s fantasy novel, The Talisman, into a Netflix series and a live-action adaptation of the iconic Death Note manga.
