One of the largest Powerball prizes in history has officially been won!
Two lucky Powerball players from Missouri and Texas won the $1.787 billion jackpot on Saturday, Sept. 6 — the second-largest prize in U.S. lottery history — after matching all six numbers with their tickets, lottery officials announced in a press release.
The winning numbers were white balls 11, 23, 44, 61, 62, and red Powerball 17.
The prize money will be split among the winners, with each receiving their total prize money of $410.3 million or annual payments of $893.5 million before taxes, according to officials. If the second option is selected, they will get 29 annual payments, which will increase by 5% each year.

Ahead of the drawing on Saturday, Sept. 6, the jackpot hit an estimated $1.8 billion before taxes, according to lottery officials. The latest Powerball jackpot is the second-largest prize in U.S. lottery history, following the $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot won in California on Nov. 7, 2022.
As for the overall odds of winning the Powerball jackpot? Well, it’s pretty slim at 1 in 292.2 million.
“Congratulations to our newest Powerball jackpot winners and the Missouri Lottery and Texas Lottery for selling the winning tickets,” Matt Strawn, Powerball Product Group Chair and Iowa Lottery CEO, said after the winnings. “Each $2 ticket sold during this Powerball jackpot run gave players a chance at the prize, while also supporting vital public programs and services in their communities — and that’s worth celebrating!”

Saturday’s Powerball drawing resulted in more than 9.9 million winning tickets, lottery officials announced.
A total of 18 tickets sold nationwide won $1 million prizes. These tickets were sold in California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Texas and West Virginia, per the release.
Two of those tickets sold in Kansas and Texas matched all five white balls and increased their winnings to $2 million each. 232 tickets also won $50,000 prizes.
After a drawing on Saturday, Aug. 30, one North Carolina man was just one number away from winning the massive jackpot. Due to the multiplier, his $50,000 Powerball prize tripled to $150,000, the North Carolina Education Lottery officials said in a statement.
Powerball drawings take place on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. EST from the Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee and are also live streamed on the game’s website.
