A Texas Tech student has been arrested and expelled after yelling at a group of people mourning Charlie Kirk’s death on campus, state leaders confirmed Monday.

Camryn Booker, an 18-year-old freshman at the West Texas school, is no longer enrolled at the university, local CBS affiliate KCBD reported. She was also charged with assault and released after posting $200 bail.

Social media videos showed Booker yelling at several other students on Texas Tech’s campus in Lubbock on Friday. At one point, she shouted, “F–k y’all homie dead! He got shot in the head!”

The confrontation occurred in a designated “free speech area” on campus, according to KCBD. Other videos showed Booker in a long argument with a man holding a “Rest in Peace Charlie” sign. At one point, she flicked the red hat the man was wearing.

Police told KCBD that action led to the assault charge. Even though the man did not want to press charges, Booker was arrested because an officer witnessed the hat flick, cops told the station.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Texas Tech Board of Regents Chairman Cody Campbell celebrated Booker’s arrest and expulsion on social media.

“Definitely picked the wrong school to taunt the death of Charlie Kirk. Thanks Texas Tech,” Abbott wrote.

“We [at Texas Tech] are proud of our values and are not afraid to stand up for them,” Campbell replied.

Booker is one of several people to suffer personal consequences for a reaction to Kirk’s death. An MSNBC commentator and a senior New York City Hall aide were among those fired for their comments.
