Josie Gibson has revealed she’s stepped back from the limelight and is planning to live ‘off grid as humanly possible’ 15 years after shooting to fame.

The South Gloucestershire native, 40, made her TV debut when she appeared on the 11th series of Big Brother in 2010 – the final edition on Channel 4.

After winning the show and leaving the spy house, she was catapulted to fame and quickly became a household name.

However, Josie has now revealed plans to scale back from television and to live a simplistic, quiet life where she can be ‘off grid as humanly possible’.

The mum-of-one, who is currently building her own eco home, explained: ‘I want to live off the land as much as I can and get a little allotment going, which I’ve never had.

‘All my family are involved in helping me – I’ve got the best of Bristol on it so I’m hoping I can build a showstopper.’

Josie is known for working on This Morning during the summer months, often covering as a relief presenter.

This year, however, fans of the ITV daytime hit have noticed she’s appeared less regularly than normal.

Josie explained to The Mirror: ‘A lot of my work comes through the summer holidays because I’m covering for people.

‘So this year I made a conscious decision to step back and I spent a lot more time with Reggie over the summer than I’d normally get to do.’

Josie has a fast number of shows under her belt, including 8 Out of 10 Cats, Loose Women, The Jump, Cooking with the Stars, I’m A Celebrity and The Masked Singer UK.

Josie’s admission comes after it was announced last month how she had landed her own ITV programme called Josie Gibson’s Big Country Build.

The seven-part series has allowed for cameras to follow her journey of transforming her huge Somerset property into a modern pad.

Josie will be joined by her rarely-seen family members brothers Josh and Charlie, who are scrap metal traders, as well as her builder cousin Tom.

Not only that, she’s keen to follow a sustainable life style, so the camera crew will follow her growing her own produce and installing an underground heat pump for bees.

Speaking about her new show, Josie said: ‘My dream is to build a house as eco and luxurious as possible where you are immersed in the sanctuary of nature.

‘I want to use the acres of land to try and my best to have a little small holding. I want bees, birds, badgers, to all live in harmony.

‘Though, I’m becoming increasingly concerned that my harmonious dream is slowly turning into a construction nightmare..

‘I can’t wait to bring the audience along on this journey with me!’

Earlier this month Josie revealed that she’s resorted to ‘moving back into a caravan’ after the home renovation left her ‘sleepless and with stress through the roof’.
