STEPHEN COLBERT UNLEASHES TRUMP-CLINTON JOKES BEFORE ‘BLOWING BUBBA’ THEORY DEBUNKED
Stephen Colbert gave fans a rare peek behind the curtain Monday night, revealing the risqué jokes he never got to tell about the infamous “blowing Bubba” theory that recently resurfaced in connection with Jeffrey Epstein’s emails.
During his monologue on The Late Show, the comedian addressed a viral email in which Epstein’s brother, Mark Epstein, allegedly instructed the late convicted sex offender to ask Steve Bannon: “If Putin has the photos of Trump blowing Bubba?”
“I don’t want to talk about this. I mean, I try to be a good person,” Colbert said, pausing for effect. “You know, I taught Sunday school. We have standards at The Late Show, but we also have a self-imposed mandate to talk a lot about what a lot of people are talking about.”
Despite his restraint, Colbert couldn’t resist teasing the audience about the jokes that were never delivered. “I never even got to do jokes like, ‘Now we know how Trump got a taste for politics,’” he quipped, earning raucous laughter.

The monologue struck a delicate balance between scandal and satire. Colbert, known for his sharp political humor, acknowledged the absurdity of the situation while tiptoeing around the more explicit details. His playful approach gave viewers a glimpse of what might have been a jaw-dropping comedic moment.
“This is the kind of email that makes you go, ‘Okay, we are living in the most bizarre timeline,’” Colbert added. “And as comedians, we feel compelled to at least let us have a silly one. A little joke before reality gets too heavy.”
Colbert’s segment highlights the challenge late-night hosts face when navigating stories that are shocking, sensitive, and viral all at once. With Epstein’s emails continuing to generate controversy, Colbert used humor as a lens to process a story that’s otherwise unsettling.
Fans on social media immediately reacted, praising Colbert’s ability to skirt scandal while still landing sharp punchlines. “Classic Colbert,” one viewer tweeted. “He finds the humor in the worst possible places.”
While the “blowing Bubba” theory has since been widely debunked, Colbert’s playful acknowledgment shows how late-night comedians wrestle with the intersection of politics, celebrity, and internet-fueled gossip.
For viewers, it was a moment of levity amid a wave of serious news: an iconic comedian giving a wink to the audience, hinting at the outrageousness of the story, and reminding everyone that even the most bizarre political scandals can have a satirical twist.
