💔 Heartbroken Father Reveals New Details After Four Children, Their Mother, and Grandmother Were Found De-ad — Days Before the Kids Were Meant to Begin a New Life With Him

THE father of the four children found dead in a New York apartment alongside their mother and grandmother has broken his silence.

Brady Harmon was planning to reunite with his kids next week after seven years apart until police knocked on his door on Tuesday, telling him they had been found dead 2,200 miles away.

Amy Steadman, 64, was found dead inside her apartment in Mechanicville, New York, north of Albany, alongside her 44-year-old daughter and four grandchildren.

Steadman’s daughter, Sarah Myers, and her children live in another apartment at the complex, but were found dead in Steadman’s residence.

Myers’ four children were identified as Harper Harmon, 13; Hudson Harmon, 11; and 10-year-old twins Gavin and Gracelynn Harmon.

Mechanicville police were called to the apartment around 6:20pm on Tuesday after neighbors said they hadn’t seen the family in several days.

Harmon, the children’s father, lives over 2,000 miles away in a home in Utah, where police knocked on his door on Tuesday with news that his kids were no longer alive.

He told the Times Union he hadn’t seen his kids since 2019, but a recent move in a custody agreement case had him planning to see them the following week.

“I went from I’m seeing my kids to I’ll never see my kids again,” Harmon said.

“Hope to hell. Things happen, but nothing like this.”

Harmon and Myers reached an agreement in Utah that would give him custody of the kids from July 1 to September 1.

He revealed he plans to bury his children in Utah.

“I want them as far away as possible from their mother,” the father said between tears.

A GoFundMe page was shared by Myers and Steadman years before their deaths, where Myers was trying to raise money for a domestic violence lawyer.

Harmon said the police did not tell him how his children died when they notified him.

When asked who he thought could be capable of such violence, he told the Times Union, “I don’t know.”

Mechanicville police said on Wednesday they are treating the case “as a criminal investigation while awaiting the results of the autopsies.”

Preliminary information indicated there was no evidence of other people involved and that there was no known threat to the public, officials said.

Mechanicville Police Chief Bill Rabbitt said on Thursday that officials recovered evidence, including a handwritten note, that suggested Steadman “was involved in the deaths.”

He said one of the children had suffered “fatal sharp force injuries,” and others appeared to have been poisoned, but all six causes of death remain pending as officials await toxicology reports.

Rabbitt said there was additional evidence that indicated “the intentional poisoning to include numerous prescription and over the counter medications.”

He noted the bodies had been in the apartment for an “extended period of time,” but could not specify how long.

Harmon said he was seeking custody of his children because Myers would only let him occasionally speak to them on FaceTime.

“She destroyed my life. She destroyed my family. All of us are now trying to figure out what happened,” he said.

Harmon claimed Myers was under investigation by Child Protective Services in New York.

Neighbors told the Times Union that Myers and Steadman were “inseparable.”

Megan Reed, who has lived in the complex for 11 years, said the grandmother was with Myers “every single day to help her.”

Stephanie Sweeney, who lives two doors down from Steadman’s apartment, said she called 911 after she hadn’t heard from them in nearly two weeks.

“I noticed the smell of death,” she told ABC affiliate WTEN.

“And then I noticed when I turned that the air conditioner and the windows was all full of flies and I knew immediately, so I just called, I had to.

“I thought I just did something wrong, and they [the family] weren’t talking to me.”

“Amy was one of my best friends. Her grandchildren called me ‘Nana,’ so that’s hitting even harder,” she told WTEN through tears.

As the case remains under investigation, relatives have asked people not to speculate on the circumstances.

“She was a wonderful person and wonderful mother,” Myers’ cousin Cazlynn Ross told CBS affiliate WRGB.

“I know she was going through a custody battle and we are so heartbroken and don’t understand what happened and we need answers to find out what happened.

“We would like people to stop assuming and bashing her, saying she did it when we have no idea what happened.

“It’s bad enough we just lost six family members. All the negativity and bashing about Sarah hurts us.”

Police closed off the area with crime scene tape on Tuesday, where a teddy bear and a children’s bicycle could be seen outside the apartment.

A small memorial with balloons was placed outside the residence.
