Married At First Sight relationship expert Mel Schilling has issued a heartbreaking update on her cancer, revealing it has spread to her brain.
The TV personality shared the emotional update on Instagram on Friday, opening up about the progression of her illness and thanking supporters who have followed her health battle over the past two years.
Schilling said she was first diagnosed with colon cancer in December 2023 after a scan revealed a tumour she described as “the size of a lemon.”
The tumour, which she nicknamed “Terry”, was successfully removed and she was initially given the all clear.
But during a routine scan in February 2024, doctors discovered small nodules in her lungs, confirming the cancer had spread.
“During a routine scan, small nodules were discovered in my lungs. The cancer had metastasised, and my world changed again in an instant,” she wrote.
“Over the past two years, while filming MAFS, I underwent 16 rounds of chemotherapy and was later told I was eligible for a groundbreaking clinical trial specific to my gene type.”
“Once again, my optimism soared that I might beat this thing.”

However, her health took another turn over Christmas when she began experiencing severe headaches and numbness down the right side of her body.
Further testing revealed the cancer had spread to the left side of her brain.
“Despite subsequent radiotherapy sessions, my oncology team have now told me there is nothing further they can do,” she said.
“Hearing those words changes everything,” she wrote.
“So that’s where I am now. My light is starting to fade — and quickly,”
Schilling said everyday tasks have become increasingly difficult and she now relies heavily on her family for support.
“I honestly don’t know how long I have left, but I do know I will fight to my last breath and will be surrounded by the love and support of my people,” she said.

Schilling posted the statement under an image of her family, finishing her post with:
“At the outset of this journey, so many of you sent the most wonderful messages of support. They have meant more than I can ever properly express and have helped shape the mindset I’ve needed to keep fighting. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.“If I could leave you with one thing, it would simply be this: if something doesn’t feel right, please get it checked out. It might just save your life.“These two beside me are my everything.”

Her post prompted an outpouring of support from fans and fellow television personalities, with thousands leaving messages of encouragement.
Fellow MAFS expert John Aiken wrote: “Dearest Mel. This news is simply devastating. All of me is standing with you. Whenever you need me – please know I’m there. All of my thoughts and prayers are with you and your amazing family. I’m hugging you now and I’m not letting go❤️”
