A five-year-old boy has died after being hit by a four-wheel drive while crossing a road in Perth’s south.

A young boy has died after he was hit by a four-wheel drive while crossing a road in Perth’s south.

Emergency services rushed to Belgravia St in Cloverdale after the boy, 5, and a woman known to him, 48, were hit by a Toyota LandCruiser about 4.25pm on Tuesday.

Witnesses told 7News they saw paramedics performing compressions on the boy at the scene.

The boy was rushed to Perth Children’s Hospital but died from his injuries, police said.

The woman suffered critical injuries and was taken to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment.

A police spokesman said the driver of the LandCruiser stopped at the scene and was uninjured.

“The WA Police Force continues to urge all motorists to take care on the road,” a spokesman said.

“Drive safely and keep in mind the wellbeing of yourself and others.”
