Fox News personality Kat Timpf is stepping away from Gutfeld! once again, this time to undergo reconstructive surgery following her double mastectomy earlier this year.
The 36-year-old columnist, comedian, and regular panelist on the late-night show revealed the news on Monday night’s episode, explaining her decision to go public with her absence in an effort to prevent online speculation.
“When I came back, I said I still had some surgeries to go,” Timpf shared on air. “The first reconstructive surgery is next week. So I’m going to be out for a couple of weeks. Even with the best-case scenario of breast cancer, it can involve quite a road to feeling whole again. This is the first step in that.”
She added with her signature wit, “Just so the internet can’t come up with theories about where I am — that’s where I am.”

Timpf later echoed her sentiments on social media. Sharing a clip of her on-air statement to X (formerly Twitter), she wrote, “I’ll be back on @Gutfeldfox in a few weeks! Huge thanks to those of you who have taken the time to offer me words of kindness and support. I love u all so much.”
This update comes months after Timpf revealed the harrowing circumstances surrounding her breast cancer diagnosis. In February, she announced on Instagram that she had become a first-time mother — and had received her diagnosis just 15 hours before going into labor.
“Last week, I welcomed my first child into the world,” she wrote at the time. “About fifteen hours before I went into labor, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.”
She assured her followers the cancer was caught early: “Now, before you worry — my doctor says it’s stage 0 and is confident that it almost certainly hasn’t spread. Or, as I’ve explained to the few people I’ve managed to tell about it so far: don’t freak out. It’s just, like, a little bit of cancer.”
Still, the day was anything but typical. “I woke up more-than-a-week-past-due pregnant, completely consumed by doing everything I could to get the baby out. By the middle of the afternoon, I was waddling around from appointment to appointment, talking about how to get my cancer out,” she recalled.
Shortly after, in March, Timpf underwent a double mastectomy. In a lighthearted post from her hospital bed, she shared a censored image of her feet beneath a hospital gown and joked about the results of her surgery. “Post-op! They’re honestly not much smaller than they were before I got pregnant,” she quipped.
Timpf’s candor and humor in the face of a life-changing diagnosis have earned her an outpouring of support from fans, colleagues, and viewers alike. Her openness continues to shine a light on the complexities of breast cancer — especially when it intersects with motherhood.
According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the U.S. aside from skin cancers, accounting for roughly 30% of new female cancers annually. There are currently over four million breast cancer survivors in the U.S., including both those undergoing treatment and those who have completed it.
As Timpf embarks on the next phase of her recovery, fans are rallying behind her once more, eagerly awaiting her return to the Gutfeld! panel. Until then, she’s focusing on healing — with grace, grit, and a sense of humor intact.
