Tragic Identification: 14-Year-Old Adrian Lai and 15-Year-Old William Drake Named as Victims in Bossley Park T-Way Bus Crash
Sydney, March 24, 2026 — Police have formally identified the two teenage boys killed when their illegal trail bike collided with a commuter bus on the Liverpool-Parramatta Transitway (T-way) at Bossley Park on Monday night.
The victims were Adrian Lai, 14, and William Drake, 15 — best mates who were riding together on a single unregistered motorcycle when the fatal crash occurred just after 7:15pm.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on the restricted bus-only lane but were unable to save the boys. Both died at the scene despite frantic efforts by paramedics. The bus driver, a 48-year-old man, was uninjured but taken to hospital for mandatory testing. No passengers were hurt.

Emergency services flood the T-way at Bossley Park with flashing lights as paramedics work desperately at the crash site.

The damaged commuter bus and emergency crews remain at the scene where the trail bike became trapped underneath.
Superintendent Craig Middleton told reporters on Tuesday that police are increasingly concerned about the illegal use of trail bikes and e-bikes on the T-way.
“We do have a number of issues around illegal use of the T-way… and the police here are very proactive in their patrolling,” he said. “We’ve conducted joint operations and a number of trail bikes and e-bikes have been seized.”
Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone described the tragedy as a “wake-up call to everyone.” He revealed he had personally written to the NSW Police Minister warning that a serious incident was inevitable due to the daily presence of young riders treating the busway like a playground.

The crash has reignited fierce debate over safety on the dedicated transitway. Locals and officials have long complained that the T-way has become a popular but highly dangerous route for unlicensed riders dodging cameras and police.
Police confirmed the motorcycle was unregistered and neither boy held a licence. Investigations are continuing into how the teens accessed the restricted bus lane and the exact circumstances of the collision.
