MAFS groom Scott McCristal confirms new romance after his split with ‘toxic’ bride Gia Fleur
Married At First Sight groom Scott McCristal has confirmed he is already moving on from his explosive on-screen marriage.
Speaking to the Daily Mail following the finale, Scott said he is no longer single – but stopped short of going public with the relationship because it is ‘early days’.
‘There is someone in the picture, but I can’t really confirm anything because it’s early days,’ he said.
The groom, who endured one of the most turbulent relationships of the season with bride Gia Fleur, admitted he is ready to leave the experiment behind and focus on building a future with someone new.
‘I know what I deserve and what I don’t deserve,’ he said.
‘I know someone’s out there that will meet my needs and actually accept me for who I am.’

Scott reflects on reunion showdown – ‘I deserve better’
Scott said walking into the reunion and coming face-to-face with Gia for the first time since their split was exactly what he expected.
‘It’s what I expected, to be honest. I didn’t really expect anything different,’ he said.
But while the reunion offered some closure, Scott made it clear he has no interest in revisiting the relationship again.
‘I do wish her all the best. I hope her new lover’s treating her well,’ he said.
‘But I hope she learns not to lie and carry on the way she did.’
He also questioned whether Gia had genuinely grown following the experiment.
‘Seeing her on the couch saying she doesn’t want to bring this into the future… but then you see stuff on social media, it makes me think – did she really grow? Probably not.’
‘There is someone in the picture, but I can’t really confirm anything because it’s early days,’ he said
Scott slams co-stars for ‘selling’ new relationships – ‘That’s desperate’
Scott accused several cast members of attempting to rewrite their narratives post-show by flaunting new romances for attention.
‘F***ing black and white, man,’ he said when asked who he believed was rewriting history.
‘They’re flaunting their new relationships. It’s like – how did you move on that fast?’
He went on to take a swipe at both Gia and Alissa Fay, accusing them of leveraging their love lives for publicity.
‘You have to go to a magazine to make money to write an article about a new man. That’s pretty immature, if I’m honest,’ he said.
‘That’s desperate.’
‘You’re trying to cover up your bad behaviour by seeking another boyfriend that you probably don’t even love.’
In one of his most explosive claims, Scott accused several cast members of attempting to rewrite their narratives post-show by flaunting new romances for attention. (Alissa pictured with her new boyfriend, Australian Ninja Warrior star Nathan Ryles)
Scott calls out Alissa Fay – ‘Her colours came out’
Scott singled out Alissa Fay, claiming her behaviour during the final stages of the experiment exposed a different side to viewers.
‘Alissa’s a very interesting one because we didn’t see that behaviour until the end,’ he said.
‘But in saying that too, I’ve witnessed a fair few things.’
He pointed to her relationship with groom David, suggesting there were signs of imbalance that became more obvious as the season progressed.
‘You could even see – he could never even get a word in,’ he added.
Despite the backlash surrounding Danny Hewitt at the reunion, Scott stood by his co-star, revealing they remain close friends
Defending Danny: ‘He was dealing with more than people saw’
Despite the backlash surrounding Danny Hewitt at the reunion, Scott stood by his co-star and said they remain close friends.
In his most raw comments yet, Scott reflected on what he described as a deeply toxic dynamic with Gia, claiming emotional manipulation played a major role in their downfall
‘I spoke to him 10 minutes ago,’ he said.
Scott suggested Danny’s controversial moments were taken out of context, claiming viewers didn’t see the full picture of what was happening behind the scenes.
‘I think every time they showed those bits of Danny saying stuff, it’s because he was checked out,’ he said.
‘There was a lot happening in their relationship… yelling…’
‘He was dealing with a lot more than what people really saw.’
Scott’s final verdict on Gia -‘She made me feel like s**t’
Scott reflected on what he described as a deeply toxic dynamic with Gia.
‘Of course I had feelings for her at the time,’ he admitted.
The experience, he says, has made him more vocal, more self-aware, and unwilling to tolerate toxic behaviour in the future
But he said the relationship was plagued by ‘drama, lies, emotional manipulation’.
‘Everything she did was wrong. I was always shut down,’ he said.
‘The amount of comments she made to me behind closed doors was just phenomenal.
‘I just kept copping it and copping it. I don’t deserve someone to treat me like that.’
Scott also claimed he stayed in the relationship longer than he should have due to being repeatedly convinced things would improve.
‘She would always manipulate me into blaming everyone else, and I would believe her,’ he said.
‘It wasn’t until I saw it on screen that I thought – wow.’
What’s next?
Despite the emotional toll, Scott insisted he has no regrets about signing up for the experiment.
‘Not at all. I’m glad I did it,’ he said.
He said the experience made him more vocal, more self-aware and unwilling to tolerate toxic behaviour in the future.
‘I’ve learned to have a voice and not be silent,’ he said.
And while he hasn’t ruled out returning to television, he admits another stint on Married At First Sight is unlikely. ‘I’d do anything… The Block, Survivor, Amazing Race,’ he said. ‘But I don’t know about doing this again, if I’m honest’
‘I’ll never let someone walk over me again.’
Now back to focusing on his booming business, Scott revealed he has been inundated with work since leaving the show.
‘I’m getting 20 to 30 emails a day,’ he said.
And while he hasn’t ruled out returning to television, he said another stint on Married At First Sight is unlikely.
‘I’d do anything… The Block, Survivor, Amazing Race,’ he said.
‘But I don’t know about doing this again, if I’m honest.’
