The simmering feud between Jackie O Henderson and Kyle Sandilands is stretching into a second week, with Henderson once again a no-show on Monday morning.

The pair had an on-air bust up on the Friday February 20 edition of their on their KIIS FM breakfast program that left Henderson in tears, prompting her to step away from the show the following week to “gather her thoughts”.

Sandilands was last week joined by newsreader Brooklyn Ross as a fill in for Henderson, except on Thursday when they played re-runs with Sandilands off sick, and said he was optimistic about Henderson’s return — eventually.

But on Monday he confirmed his colleague of 25 years would be absent again.

“It’s just the two of us again, it’s like your weekend at the Mardi Gras, just two blokes cuddling at the end of the weekend,” Sandilands said to Ross.

“It’s a shame Jackie’s not here this week, she won’t be here all week again everyone, for those monitoring.”

The pair discussed the Iran war at length and how Sandilands had been in Dubai just a month ago.

He added: “I do feel Jackie will be back soon. I know there’s been a lot of speculation … she doesn’t know, I don’t know … she’s OK. I know that she’s alive because I’ve seen the (pap) pictures.”

Ross said: “I’ve spoken to her yeah, but I don’t have anything to report, just that she’s fine.”

Speculation has mounted of a irreparable fracture between the duo after Sandilands attacked Henderson, telling her that she had been “off with the fairies” and “unfocused” at work lately due to her obsession with astrology and star charts.

Henderson became emotional during the argument, telling Sandilands she could not believe he would target her so publicly.

“You’re not doing the rest of the job, and everyone in this building has mentioned it to me,” Sandilands had said on February 20.

“And I’ve just said: “I’m not getting involved that’s a management … I’ve got no problem.

“Everyone has said what’s ‘going on with Jackie, she’s off today, you’re not getting much’. Everyone you can see has said something over the last month at some stage. Doesn’t have to be this big thing here. It’s not great, it’s just a fact. Wake up (beep) … I’m not lying to her to make her feel bad. This is actually what people have said to me. And I like that she goes off on these buzzers, I’ve got no issue, but it is affecting everything else.”

Sandilands did apologise to Henderson, saying his wife had berated him for the way he treated his co-host, while also denying the bust-up was a publicity stunt.

“I obviously upset her and maybe in hindsight I shouldn’t have said it on the air, but we say a lot of things on the air here,” Sandilands said.

“It’s never meant to hurt her feelings and obviously it did, and I regret hurting her feelings. No one wants to hurt someone, especially someone you care for.”

Irene Hulme and Craig Bruce on the Game Changers radio podcast said Sandilands’ behaviour was aggressive and horrible, with Bruce wondering if they’d somewhat grown apart.

“Two people bound together by a contract and not by friendship anymore,” Bruce said.

The pair signed a $200m deal to bring to show to Melbourne in 2024, but have received dismal local ratings.
