An emotional Campbell Hatton (right) as City fans paid tribute to his dad
There were emotional scenes at the Etihad Stadium as Manchester City fans paid a moving tribute to Ricky Hatton.
The Mancunian boxing icon was dead at his home in Gee Cross, Hyde, on Sunday, September 14, aged 46.
City fans marked the passing of passionate Blue Ricky with a minute’s applause before the Manchester derby, which took place later that day.
And there were further tributes paid at today’s home match against Burnley.
There was a touching moment before kick-off at the Etihad when City fans in the South Stand unveiled a tribute with the Hatton family on the sidelines watching on.
The display, organised by fan group 1894, showed Hatton in the ring wearing City branded shorts next to the words ‘The People’s Champion.’

There was also a banner on the third tier of the East Stand reading ‘There’s only one Ricky Hatton’.
While a silhouette of Hatton was also shown on the big screens inside as City supporters sang Blue Moon ahead of kick-off.
His family clearly found it an emotional moment, with Ricky’s son Campbell, himself a big blue, being seen moved to tears pitchside.

Hatton’s two daughters, Millie and Fearne, accompanied by his granddaughter and niece, had earlier led both sets of players onto the pitch.
Flowers and a City scarf were laid on Ricky’s usual seat.
When his family were ushered back down the tunnel just before kick-off they were afforded a warm reception.

Entry to the service is by invitation only, but members of the public will have an opportunity to pay their respects as the funeral cortège makes its way to the cathedral.
