One video posted to both Madison and David’s Instagram Stories reveals how the proposal went down.

While sharing dessert on a date, David rolled what appeared to be an oversized dice but was actually a ring box. He then dropped down on one knee and opened the box to reveal the engagement ring — a glistening oval-cut diamond on a thin band adorned with pave-set diamonds for extra sparkle. Madison’s jaw dropped in disbelief. She covered her mouth in shock as David proposed and slipped the new bling onto her lefthand ring finger. Onlookers applauded as the couple kissed to celebrate the big moment.

The engagement news follows the couple’s public cheating scandal. Madison and David began their journey on season 18 of Married on First Sight with their former respective partners, Allen and Michelle, but developed a connection on the Lifetime show.

Fans were shocked in one episode when David accidentally sent a text to Michelle that read, “You are so damn fine I just wanna eat U up” while still married. David later opened up about the scandal, admitting the affair “started off at the gym… as a complete friendship.” He explained, “I was getting the communication, I was getting the attention, and just asking questions of who I was. So that, right there, meant a s— ton to me, to where, and probably started growing, after that.” On an earlier episode, Madison admitted she was no longer interested in pursuing a relationship with Allen and instead, had feelings for David, confessing to him, “I do like you, probably more than I should. I just wanted to be honest with you, and I don’t think that I can probably continue in my marriage personally. I don’t think it’s fair to Allen and I know that it’s messy and I think that this could be something.”

Madison and David ultimately ended their respective marriages in order to pursue each other instead.
