Lauren and Meg found themselves locked down in their bougie hotel room when Mexico’s most-wanted drug lord El Mencho was shot, sparking mass violence.

When the lockdown was put in place the former Islanders had no idea what was going on with Meg both their phones dead.

Speaking at a Celsius launch event, Lauren said: “We didn’t actually know we were at a beach club literally enjoying ourselves and we got told there was no taxis.”he hotel.

She continued: “There was one taxi back and then we stayed in our rooms, we had no power, no charge on our phones, so it was quite scary.

“We were told to go back to our hotel rooms and everything was shut, just for everyone’s safety. And then we had a power cut, so it was a bit crazy but luckily we were safe.”

Lauren confessed her family didn’t know about the incident and she chose to tell them the next day when the lockdown was lifted as she didn’t want them to worry.

She added: “They didn’t actually know we rang them and told them the next day. I thought I don’t want to worry my parents whilst I’m away because they won’t sleep.

“But yeah [the cartel violence] was a lot bigger than we thought .”

Lauren recently fled the UK with Meg and another pal amid her heartbreak over ex Harrison on All Stars.

The telly stars had been busy posting sizzling holiday snaps online before the lockdown.

Lauren and Harrison met on series 12 of Love Island during Casa Amor.

They continued to date for four months after filming for the show wrapped up before calling it quits.

Earlier this month, Lauren expressed she felt shocked as well as heartbroken when she learned that Harrison was entering the villa once more.

She also claimed they were still in contact regularly and had even discussed reuniting – although it seems that ship has now sailed.

Harrison has since accused Lauren of “twisting things.”
