TWO men have been arrested over the alleged murder and abduction of 85-year-old Australian grandfather Chris Baghsarian.

Gerard Andrews, 29, and Daniel Stevens, 24, were charged with murder, detaining a person with intent to ransom, and occasion actual bodily harm on Wednesday.

Both men – who still lived with their parents – were dragged out of their family homes in Kenthurst and Castle Hill at 6.30am on Wednesday morning in a dramatic police sting.

Arresting officers were supported by members of the Raptor Squad – a task force that targets serious and organised crime.

In bodycam footage, one of the men was seen stumbling with his jeans tangled around his ankles, exposing his underwear.

The other was taken into custody wearing just a pair of shorts.

Cops also seized tech devices, clothing and other items from a property in Lake Macquarie.

The arrests come after Mr Baghsarian’s remains were sadly found in a field in Pitt Town.

Investigators made the grim discovery 11 days after he was abducted from his North Ryde home.

Police say the grandfather was mistakenly abducted instead of another man who lived on the same street.

The man the duo allegedly intended to kidnap is believed to be related to a Sydney businessman.

It has been alleged that Mr Baghsarian died at a property in Dural before Andrews and Stevens allegedly dumped his body in the bushland near the Lynwood Golf Club.

Mr Baghsarian’s disappearance sparked a massive police search.

Cops located his remains an estimated 30 miles from where he was allegedly abducted.

The grandfather’s distraught family have welcomed the news of the arrests.

In a statement to the media, they described the ordeal as a nightmare.

“We are struggling to make sense of the fact that he has been taken and that our family has been caught up in something that has nothing to do with us,” they said.

The pair remain in police custody after being refused bail.

They are set to appear at the Blacktown Local Court on Thursday.

The arrests come after Mr Baghsarian was allegedly forced into a dark-coloured SUV in the early hours of the morning from his home in North Ryde by a group of masked intruders.

It is then believed he was taken to a property in Dural and beaten, before being forced to film a horrific hostage video.

The tape was allegedly directed by a local gangland figure and was circulated through New South Wales‘ underworld.
