Cardi B Shares the Sweet and Funny Reactions When She Told Her Kids About Their New Baby Brother

Cardi B has shared plenty of personal moments with her fans, but few have been as heartfelt — or as funny — as the one she recently opened up about: the day she told her children that she and Stefon Diggs were expecting another baby. The 32-year-old rapper, already mom to Kulture, Wave, and Blossom, recalled how each of her kids reacted differently to the news that they were getting a new baby brother — and how their responses perfectly reflected their personalities.

“I wanted to tell them myself,” Cardi explained, smiling as she remembered the moment. “We’d kept it private for a while, and I wanted them to hear it straight from me — not from anyone else or the internet. So one evening after dinner, I just sat them all down and said, ‘Mommy has something important to tell you.’”

Her oldest, six-year-old Kulture, immediately sensed something big was coming. “She’s sharp — she was like, ‘Are we going on a trip?’” Cardi laughed. “I said, ‘No baby, it’s even better — Mommy’s having a baby!’”

For a second, Kulture froze. Then her eyes went wide and she gasped. “Like…a real baby?!” she asked, before jumping into her mother’s arms. “She was so excited,” Cardi recalled warmly. “She hugged me so tight I almost cried. She said, ‘I’m gonna help you, Mommy! I’ll take care of him.’ She was already talking about being the big sister, helping with bottles, picking out baby clothes — all that. She went into full big-sis mode instantly.”

But her four-year-old son Wave didn’t quite share the same calm reaction. His confusion — and curiosity — had Cardi bursting into laughter. “He looked at my belly real serious and said, ‘He’s in there right now?’” she said. “Then he leaned in and tried to talk to it — like, ‘Hey baby, can you hear me?’ I was dying. He asked, ‘Can he come out tomorrow?’ and I said, ‘Not yet, baby, you gotta wait.’ He said, ‘Okay, I’ll get his toys ready.’ He’s so sweet — he still doesn’t totally get it, but he’s already protective.”

Then came Blossom, the couple’s two-year-old daughter, who reacted in the most innocent way. “Blossom just looked at me, then at her brother and sister — totally curious but not really understanding what was happening,” Cardi said. “She didn’t say much, just kind of smiled and stared at my belly like she was trying to figure it out. It was so sweet.”

The family moment was intimate and full of laughter — but it didn’t end there. When Stefon Diggs heard the news, his reaction was just as dramatic as any fan’s. “He FaceTimed us and screamed so loud I thought my phone was gonna explode,” Cardi said, cracking up. “He was like, ‘Nah, you’re lying! Another one?!”

The next day, Diggs sent a custom baby onesie modeled after his football jersey, with “Lil Bardi” printed across the back and the number 7 stitched underneath. “That’s my guy,” Cardi said fondly. “He’s always showing love.”

Stefon was “just grinning the whole time,” she said. “He loves being a dad, so he’s excited — but I think he’s also preparing himself mentally. Four kids is a lot! But he’s great with them. The house is loud, chaotic, but it’s all love.”

Cardi also reflected on how motherhood has changed her over the years. “With Kulture, I was scared — I didn’t know what I was doing,” she said. “With Wave, I was trying to balance being an artist and a mom. Blossom came when I was finally learning how to slow down. And now, this baby — it feels peaceful. I feel more grounded than I ever have.”

She admitted that her kids’ excitement keeps her going, even on difficult days. “Every morning, they check my belly,” she said. “Wave says, ‘Is he still in there?’ Blossom gives me little smiles. And Kulture — she talks to him like he’s already here. It’s the sweetest thing.”

As for what she’s looking forward to most? “Just that moment when they all meet him for the first time,” Cardi said softly. “They’ve been waiting, they’ve been talking about him every day. I know the second they see him, it’s gonna be one of those memories I’ll never forget.”

Cardi laughed when asked if this will be her last baby. “Let’s just get through this one first!” she said, smiling. “But yeah… the house is full, the love is full. I think we’re good for now.”
