A BRITISH tourist who tripped and fell off a cliff to his death has been identified as a thrill-seeking 23-year-old scaffolder.

Fergus Cooper was missing for almost a week after he ventured off during a sightseeing trip to an Australian beauty-spot before his body washed up on a beach.

After a desperate search for the Brit, cops found a body on Billies Beach in Corunna, New South Wales on Wednesday.

Police believe Fergus initially fell from a steep cliff edge on Mystery Bay Beach – around seven kilometers from Corunna, into the water below.

Chief Inspector Shane Jessep from the South Coast Police District said Fergus “appeared to have had an accident and slipped on rocks”.

Fergus was with a friend at the time.

Tributes for the adventurer have poured in since he was named as the victim.

One friend said: “Fergus was a top lad, always up for a challenge and one of the nicest lads around.

“Fergus loved to travel and loved the outdoors. He was physically very fit, and loved to push himself.”

Fergus loved to show off his high-octane lifestyle online from his skiing trips to off-roading and mountain climbing.

He conquered Ben Nevis – the UK’s highest mountain – and trekked up peaks in Vietnam and the Scottish Highlands with his mates.

A seasoned globetrotter at such a young age, Fergus had visited four continents including a recent trip to Morocco.

The tragedy comes after another British tourist died while travelling in New South Wales, Australia after being caught in a cyclone.

Eleanor Thompson, known as Ellie, was crushed to death by her van as severe tropical cyclone Alfred tore through Australia.

Ellie, originally from Flintshire in Wales, had messaged her mum Amanda three days before her body was discovered on March 11, 2025.

On March 10, Ellie failed to arrive for her shift at a bar, which prompted friends to visit the house where she had been staying.

The following day, they discovered her Mazda van off the side of the driveway, wedged into overgrown vegetation.

Ellie’s body was tragically found underneath the vehicle and she was confirmed dead shortly after from multiple injuries.
