Danny Hewitt and Bec Zacharia entered Wednesday’s dinner party on Married At First Sight looking strong after a troubled Homestay Week.

But Bec was blindsided by the end of the night when her groom told the group he had serious doubts about moving into her $3 million pad in Adelaide‘s ritziest suburb.

‘I don’t know how anyone else thinks, but it makes you feel like a bit of b*tch moving in with a woman,’ Danny, 34, said, sending shock waves around the table.

The experts appeared astonished at Danny’s confession, while the late Mel Schilling criticised the groom for using the word ‘b**ch’.

‘He is talking about feeling emasculated if she were the one who owned the house,’ Mel said.

Bec, 35, responded to Danny’s explosive declaration by sharing that her 800 square metre home had a $97,000 mortgage and was only 5 minutes from the CBD.

‘F**k me,’ she added in exasperation.

Still, Danny’s remark sparked a debate around the table about traditional gender roles.

Scott, David, Stephen and Gia showed sympathy for Danny’s feeling that it should be the ‘man’ in a relationship who is the main provider.

But Rachel hit back, leaving no doubt that she thought the ‘traditional’ view was outdated.

‘Are we f***ing serious with this?’ She said and added, ‘We’re in the 2020s, and we’re “emasculated” by moving into the home of your woman?’

Back at the table, a rattled Bec had a quiet word with Danny about his feelings and sought clarification, even though her groom insisted they had discussed his fears.

‘I feel like you hadn’t said that that would impact you that way,’ Bec began.

After Danny insisted they had had the discussion, Bec continued, ‘But not to that level, like I think I would have appreciated you having been that open and honest with me before a whole table of people.’

‘I hadn’t heard that yet, and I wish my husband could talk to me. I feel blindsided by him and completely and utterly betrayed by my husband,’ Bec said

Bec appeared angry and embarrassed over her groom’s share at the dinner party, while the experts saw a reluctance on Danny’s part to commit to the relationship.

‘At the dinner table, Danny said he’d feel like a b***h moving into a girl’s house,’ Bec said in her debrief.

‘I hadn’t heard that yet, and I wish my husband could talk to me. I feel blindsided by him and completely and utterly betrayed by my husband.’

Appearing to calm his agitated bride down, Danny explained his position in detail.

‘I’d put money into your house and renovate it, or I would pick up the mortgage because just moving in…would make me feel [emasculated].’

‘That’s how I heard it because I’m not moving out,’ Bec replied.

During Wednesday’s episode, Danny admitted that it was his argument with Bec during Homestay Week that triggered his doubts about moving in with his bride.

Things between the pair had progressed well as Danny appeared to win approval from Bec’s family.

But tensions arose over a poorly timed joke from Danny about Bec’s cousin Danielle.

Tensions quickly escalated as Bec complained that Danny had ‘diminished’ her with the joke about her cousin.

‘It’s so frustrating,’ he complained, confessing that he felt uncomfortable and did not want to be alone with Bec with the whole drama, leaving him unsure about their relationship.

Meanwhile, Bec vented her own frustrations about the way Danny managed their relationship.

‘This relationship is serious for me, so when he is making a mockery of the situation we are in, it p***es me off,’ she said in her debrief session.
