With Thanksgiving just around the corner, Cardi B is worried that the Trump administration’s proposed massive cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will have a drastic impact on Americans’ food pantries during the holidays. In a Twitter Spaces message posted on Saturday (Oct. 18) Cardi said, “people are complaining that they have taken away food stamps. Mind you that Thanksgiving is next month,” Cardi said of SNAP (formerly known as food stamps), which provides monthly benefits to low-income Americans to help them buy groceries.

“Mmm… no turkey for some of y’all, very interesting,” Cardi added of the possible impact of the administration’s announcement in August of $186 billion in cuts to SNAP as part of its so-called “big beautiful bill act” slashing government programs, reductions that experts says could leave millions of Americans hungry.
“These are the type of things I was trying to warn y’all was gonna happen in the Trump administration… But y’all didn’t care. All y’all cared about is that I called him ‘Shrump,’” the rapper added about the blowback she’d previously received for taking aim at the president with a belittling nickname. And while Cardi said most fans might consider her to be rich, she said the cost of living, even for her, has become high for “every Go–amn thing.”
As an example, Cardi said when she orders a piece of custom furniture from Italy the Trump-imposed tariffs add $15,000 to her bill. “Everything been rising up, from the prices of f–king Fashion Nova and Shein to Chanel and all that s–t because the tariffs are so f–king expensive!” she added of the rising prices for everything from fast fashion brands to luxury houses.
Trump came into office promising to lower grocery prices and turn around what he painted as an economy in freefall due to the previous administration. But to date, inflation and the cost of living are rising due to the impact of Trump’s tariffs and with no end in sight to the now nearly month-old government shutdown, a new CNBC survey shows that many Americans worry that their jobs could be next on the chopping block as companies tighten their belts.
This isn’t the first time recently that Cardi has weighed in on economic matters. “I feel so bad because I didn’t realize how quickly they raised the rent prices. And I’m out here asking y’all to buy my album and s—t. I’m so sorry, y’all,” Cardi said during an Instagram Live session last week about her concern about asking fans to buy her Am I the Drama? LP in this economy. “When I was looking at those rent prices, I was so f—king disgusted. They need to make it easier to get welfare to get a little help.”
