Authorities in North Yorkshire are piecing together the events surrounding a “tragic and distressing” incident in the Dormanstown area of Redcar, where a three-month-old baby girl lost her life. The Emergency Response

Cleveland Police were alerted to a property at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Thursday following concerns for the welfare of an infant. Despite the rapid arrival of three ambulance crews and a clinical team leader, the baby girl was pronounced d*ceased due to injuries sustained from a dog bite.

A 31-year-old woman was also transported to the hospital for treatment of an arm injury, also resulting from a bite. Armed officers were deployed to the scene, where they neutralized one animal that had escaped onto the street. A second animal, initially recovered by police, has also been destroyed.

A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing injury resulting in d*ath. Following formal questioning, he has been released on conditional bail as detectives continue their inquiries.
