Savannah Guthrie helped in handling an awkward on-air moment on the Today show. On the April 8 episode, the co-anchors were discussing the upcoming movie, The Devil Wears Prada 2. Regarded as one of the most highly anticipated fims of 2026, Guthrie’s colleague Craig Melvin couldn’t control his excitement and ended up leaking a spoiler. However, the 54-year-old broadcaster stepped in to ease the tension.

Savannah Guthrie’s co-anchor, Craig Melvin, leaked a The Devil Wears Prada 2 spoiler on the Today Show. During the Wednesday episode, the panel was talking about the forthcoming film starring Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep. Melvin accidentally spilled the beans about his colleague, Jenna Bush Hager (JBH), being part of the movie.

“By the way, you know how [I know] that movie’s going to be good? You know how I can tell? JBH is in it,” he enthusiastically said. As soon as he took her name, the camera showed Hager. With her jaw dropping on the floor, she looked shocked and commented, “I don’t know that you were supposed to drop that bomb.”

Guthrie didn’t waste time to help lighten the situation. Referring to her co-anchor, she playfully remarked, “This is why you cannot tell Craig anything!” Meanwhile, Melvin couldn’t seem to take back his words. Hence, he tried to defend himself by saying that he thought Hager’s appearance in the movie was “common knowledge.” Guthrie shook her head and said, “No!”

Melvin then apologized for leaking a spoiler, while the recently returned journalist didn’t lose a chance to pull his legs. She quipped. “Why don’t you read my journal, while you’re at it?” Meanwhile, Hager’s role in The Devil Wears Prada 2 still seems to be under wraps. The sequel to the 2006 hit is set to be released on May 1, 2026.
