William Poyning, 45, was requested by management to vacate a four-star hotel, but instead chose to launch an assault where he smacked a staff member in the face with a bible.
He then went on to boot the worker before personnel and a member of the public managed to eject him from the Bull Hotel in Westgate, Peterborough. During the incident on 12 February, which was recorded on CCTV, the victim sustained a gash to his nose and bite wounds to one of his fingers, according to Cambridgeshire Police.

PC Jess Broome said: “Poyning’s behaviour was aggressive and intimidating as he lashed out with the bible and attacked someone who was simply doing their job.
“We won’t tolerate attacks like this on staff working in hospitality or the night time economy. I’m pleased Poyning has now appeared in court to answer for his actions.”

The brawl went to the ground after the bible bashing(Image: Cambridgeshire Live)
The Daily Star previously reported on a scrap which broke out at women’s football match as several players apparently yanked hair and threw punches.
The fight started when a player was being obstructed from taking a throw in. The player in black turned to her opponent, wearing an all-pink kit, to complain about her dirty tactics at the touchline. The pair then squared up to each other on the pitch. They apparently threw punches at each other, prompting teammates to run over to separate them. Multiple players seemed to yank each other’s hair and trade blows after the initial row.
The brawl took place at an amateur seven-a-side match in the city of Cali, Colombia, earlier this week. The players were wearing the kits of Brazilian teams Cruzeiro Esporte Clube and Clube Atlético Mineiro – a common practice in Colombian recreational leagues.
