Officials previously confirmed one person sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital.

The sheriff’s office said the school remains on lockdown due to the ongoing investigation.

Law enforcement will continue to be on campus as the investigation continues.

The FBI reported to the scene, News4 reported.

The Comal Independent School District wrote on Facebook that the lockdown alarm was activated at 8:34am, local time.

The district confirmed the scene has been secured and that students and staff were transported via bus to a nearby middle school, where parents can pick up their children.

Officials asked locals to steer clear of the area if they are not picking up a student.

Hill Country College Preparatory High School opened in August 2020 and offers a variety of coursework for students in grades nine through 12 aligning with college, career and military readiness, according to the school’s website.
