A TERRIFIED mum has been left shaken after an unknown woman attempted to snatch her one-year-old daughter from the backseat of a taxi.
Anea Rodriguez Fawcett said her toddler, Remaya, is now “traumatised” after the stranger allegedly pulled her from the back of the vehicle on Stapleton Road, Bristol.

The tot, who is nearly two, was with her great-grandmother – Anea’s nan – when her car broke down outside the Ladbrokes.
Anea explained that her nan requested the staff at the bookies call a taxi for them and they got in when one arrived.
She recounted: “As she put her in one side, the opposite door opened. A woman climbed into the taxi and tried to take my daughter out, shouting at my nan.”
The child’s great-nan bravely clung onto the little girl, attempting to stop her from being taken.
But the stranger’s grip was stronger and she managed to pull her from the vehicle, according to BristolLive.
Anea told the outlet: “She dragged my daughter out of the taxi and walked up Stapleton Road, screaming at my nan, ‘you’re hurting her, she’s not your baby.’”
The mother suspects this was an “excuse to take my child”, and insists that anyone who knows her nan wouldn’t believe her capable of harming her great-granddaughter.
Anea said that a member of the public had asked the woman to give her daughter back as the commotion drew attention from bystanders.
But the unknown woman held her tightly while the child screamed for her nan and refused, saying that she was not having her.
Anea says she explained that the woman was then asked to give the child to another member of the public, but again refused.
She added that a man then intervened, took her daughter away from the woman, and kept her safe until cops arrived.
The terrified mum told BristolLive: “She traumatised my child.
“She was very confident, very outgoing. She wasn’t scared at all, she would smile at anyone. She now won’t leave my side, her nursery has said she’s not herself anymore.
“My nan is traumatised, she didn’t want to stay at home the night after it happened. It’s had a really bad effect on everyone involved.”
Cops scrambled to the scene, but Anea claimed that while officers were speaking to her nan, the woman ran off.
The taxi driver also drove away after giving Anea’s nan her bag from the vehicle.
Avon and Somerset Police said available CCTV footage has been reviewed and an investigation is ongoing.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “At 10.47am on Friday, March 20 a call was received from a member of the public reporting an altercation between two women about a young girl, who is a relative of one of the women, who was being helped into a taxi.
“Officers were at the scene within two minutes of the call being made. They made sure the girl was safe before taking her and her relative home.
“Enquiries, including a review of available CCTV footage, were subsequently carried out while we work to establish the full circumstances of the incident. This police investigation is continuing.”
