The Princess of Wales is bringing nature into her Christmas concert

Kate Middleton is giving a peek at the preparations underway for her fifth annual “Together at Christmas” carol service.

On Dec. 4, the Princess of Wales’ team posted a new video that showed Christmas wreaths being constructed for her Christmas concert at Westminster Abbey on Dec. 5 with a little help from some celebrity friends, including Dame Mary Berry.

“Celebrate the magic of Christmas at Westminster Abbey with stunning Christmas wreaths created by the Royal Horticultural Society. This year’s ‘Together at Christmas’ carol service brings festive beauty and tradition to one of London’s most iconic landmarks,” courtiers wrote below.

“A heartfelt thank you to Tom Allen, Dame Mary Berry, Angellica Bell, Simon Lycett and Arit Anderson for their wonderful contributions in making this celebration extra special,” they said.  “Join us as nature, music, and community come together for a joyful Christmas service at Westminster Abbey.”

The video showed the group at RHS Wisley Garden in Woking for a special mission: making wreaths for Princess Kate’s holiday concert with some young schoolchildren.

“We’ve been foraging and gathering amongst the gardens of Wisley, which is such an honor because we’re never allowed to cut anything here, normally, but because we have Mary Berry, we can do anything,” joked Lycett, a celebrity event florist and RHS ambassador. “That national treasure gets us anywhere.”

After foraging, the stars teamed up with the kids and Wisley gardeners to create the giant wreaths in a friendly competition with plenty of banter.

“15 minutes left, that’s hardly any time at all, but the main thing is we’ve got to be better than Angelika and Mary,” joked Allen, a comedian and presenter.

The teams raced to the finish, where Berry’s team won for their classic design. It’s no surprise that Berry, 90, kept cool under pressure, as she was a beloved judge on The Great British Bakeoff for seven seasons from 2010 to 2016.

Tomorrow, royal watchers can look for the four oversized wreaths with red ribbons at Princess Kate’s “Together at Christmas” carol service at Westminster Abbey, which is being celebrated with the theme of “love in all its forms.”

The Princess of Wales is set to attend the event she spearheaded in 2021 as a way to thank those who went above and beyond for their communities during the COVID pandemic, with Kate Winslet, Hannah Waddingham, Dan Smith and Chiwetel Ejiofor all involved as musical performers or readers.

Kensington Palace previously announced that Princess Kate would bring her passion for nature into the service through decor and said that the Royal Horticultural Society would donate wreaths made by their Ambassadors and schoolchildren for indoor display.

Princess Kate has spoken extensively about how the outdoors uplifted her when she was undergoing treatment for cancer in 2024, and horticulturist Jamie Butterworth will create a festive environment outside of the ancient church to highlight the importance of nature in our lives.
