Lando Norris has revealed that he would “love to” share more on-track battles with Lewis Hamilton next season, backing the seven-time world champion to bounce back from a miserable 2025 campaign and return to battle for F1 race victories.
Hamilton entered the season hoping that his blockbuster move to Ferrari would be the catalyst for a return to World Championship contention, but nobody could have predicted the struggles that the 40-year-old and the Italian constructor would suffer through in 2025.
F1’s most decorated driver ended the year without a podium to his name for the first time in his F1 career, finishing just six points ahead of Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli in the Drivers’ Championship standings. Ferrari, meanwhile, slumped to fourth in the Constructors’ Championship after a dismal end to the year.
Speaking after winning his maiden F1 crown in Abu Dhabi, Norris told Sky Sports: “We’ve had a good amount of battles already. I would love to race a bit more with Lewis. Obviously, Ferrari struggled a lot more this year than I think everyone was expecting.
“Lewis has proved himself to be probably the best of all time. Everyone knows if anyone can bounce back from difficult years, it’s Mr Hamilton, and I would love to race against him more. It’s always a privilege that I get to race against someone that is the best in the world.
“You have got a good amount of those guys. You have Fernando [Alonso], Lewis, Max [Verstappen]. There’s a lot of us that want to climb in the footsteps of these other guys. George and Oscar [Piastri] are two of those, and there’s so many guys on the grid.”

Despite ending his season with an eighth-place finish in Abu Dhabi, Hamilton was able to produce a smile and some classy words of encouragement when quizzed about Norris’ title on Sunday. The Bristol-born driver ended McLaren’s wait for a Drivers’ Championship crown – a feat most recently achieved by Hamilton in 2008.
“I mean, I’ve been asked a bit, and I was thinking of not saying too much, really, just other than I’m really, really happy for him,” Hamilton told Sky Sports F1 in the media pen at the Yas Marina Circuit.
“Winning your first World Championship is truly special. The UK continues to pump out great drivers. I know what the feeling is coming into this race and fighting for your first championship – it’s nerve-racking. I’m just really proud of him. Before the weekend, I told him what he’s been doing works, so don’t change anything.”
