A man has been found dead as police investigate a stabbing that left a young woman badly injured in Melbourne’s east.
The 18-year-old woman was returning from a night out with friends when she was allegedly stabbed outside a home on Miller Gr in Kew about 1am on Wednesday.
Police said she was confronted by a man known to her.
Bloodstains were visible on a wall and a car parked in the driveway.
The Kew woman was taken to hospital with what were initially believed to be life-threatening injuries and is now in a stable condition.
Detectives began actively searching for an 18-year-old man from Camberwell following the alleged attack.

A body was found in Antwerp, about 350km west of Melbourne, after police received a call about 6.15am on Wednesday.
Police said the man’s death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
“Detectives, who are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding what occurred, are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident,” police said in a statement.
