Adrien Brody kicked off presenting the Best Actor Oscar with a cheeky nod to his win last year, pretending to spit out gum and pulling out a long fake acceptance speech before introducing the nominees.

So who actually won? Michael B. Jordan.

Despite Timothee Chalamet’s high-profile campaign for Marty Supreme, Jordan’s incredible performance as twins Smoke and Stack in Sinners couldn’t be denied.

Jordan basked in the applause as he received a standing ovation before delivering a moving acceptance speech.

He thanked his mother, his father who flew in from Ghana to be at the ceremony, his siblings, director Ryan Coogler, and many more.

“I stand here because of the people who came before me,” he said of the Black actors and actresses who have taken home acting Oscars in the past.
