Strictly Come Dancing’s Amber Davies has been hit with a heartbreaking setback just hours after landing in the bottom two.

Amber and her professional dance partner, Nikita Kuzmin, have been lauded for their performances in the iconic ballroom, showcasing their latest routine on Saturday night (October 25).

They were among the 11 couples to strut their stuff during the show’s annual Icons Week spectacle, which saw the contestants honouring some of the world’s most renowned musical artists.

Amber clinched joint second place on the leaderboard alongside Vicky Pattison, as she channelled her inner Ariana Grande with a cha cha alongside Nikita to the American pop star’s smash hit, Break Free.

Amber and Nikita also bagged 33 out of a possible 40 points for the performance, which Anton Du Beke praised, exclaiming he “absolutely loved it” while Revel Horwood dubbed it as “a really and truly great dance”.

They were compelled to perform their Ariana-themed routine again as they went head-to-head against former footballer Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Lauren Oakley, who reprised their American Smooth to Prince’s Purple Rain.

As the judges cast their votes, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and head judge Shirley Ballas chose to save Amber and Nikita.

Anton Du Beke, this week’s deciding judge, confirmed he would have voted the same way if needed, leading to Jimmy and Lauren’s exit from the show, reports the Express.

Amber has now suffered another crushing setback, as her chances of winning the competition have plummeted dramatically following the results of this weekend, meaning she is likely to miss out on lifting the Glitterball trophy.

Betfred’s Robert Ford said: “Another impressive performance for Alex Kingston has seen her come into 6/1 to win this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, and she now forms the leading trio in the market alongside 10/11 odds-on favourite George Clarke and top of the leaderboard for week five Lewis Cope at 9/2.

“Vicky Pattison, who scored a 32 at the weekend, remains unchanged at 7/1, whilst model Ellie Goldstein has drifted out to 16/1 from 12s.

“Competing in this weekend’s dance-off has made punters lose faith in Amber Davies as she’s drifted out to 33/1, despite being 11/2 when she entered the show to replace the injured Dani Dyer.

“Balvinder Sopal continues to be the biggest outsider in the betting at 100/1, despite not having to compete in a third successive dance-off on Sunday.”
