Parenthood is difficult at the best of times, but experts say welcoming a baby in your later years can cause even more issues.

This is the case for Fox News star Greg Gutfeld and his wife Elena Moussa, whom he has been married to for over two decades. The pair welcomed baby Mira late last year when Greg was 60 and Elena was 42.

They announced their special news during an installment of Fox’s The Five, which Greg had been missing from for a few weeks in the lead up. Ever since, Elena and Greg have shared a handful of glimpses into their lives as parents via their social media but not enough to reveal how they are coping with their new roles. It comes as Donald Trump made “disturbing remarks” about his own daughter in a resurfaced clip.

Gemma Logan, a wedding and relationship expert at The Foxy Hen, provided some insight into how their new dynamic may be affecting their lives.

“Welcoming a child later in life, as Greg and Elena did, often brings deeper appreciation and patience,” she began. “Older parents tend to have a stronger sense of identity, more life experience, and in many cases, greater financial stability,” Gemma went on to point out.

She expressed, “All of that can help create a nurturing, secure environment for the baby and a more thoughtful parenting dynamic.”

However, Gemma stressed, “But it’s not without its challenges. Raising a child can be physically exhausting, and that toll is felt more acutely later in life.

“There can also be emotional stressors such as worries about long-term health, how long you’ll be around for your child, or simply the pressure of doing everything ‘right’ because it may feel like your only shot,” the expert explained.

“As a couple, it’s important to prioritise connection amidst the nappies, sleepless nights and shifting identities,” she advised, noting, “Intimacy can easily take a backseat, so scheduling time for each other becomes less of a luxury and more of a lifeline.”

Giovanna Smith, a Matchmaker and Relationship Expert, also dished her verdict on Greg and Elena welcoming a child later in life.

“The couple welcomed their first child after 20 years of marriage, which inevitably invites discussion around fertility, timing, and modern parenting. It may have been a deliberate decision, or the result of challenges along the way — but what’s clear is that fertility is closely linked to age, particularly for women,” she said.

“Trying to conceive later in life can come with emotional, physical, and even financial pressures, often stretching a couple’s patience and resilience. However, it can also lead to a profound sense of gratitude and grounded parenting,” Giovanna noted.

The matchmaker went on, “That said, it’s also important to consider the experience of the child. When parents are in their 50s or 60s, the dynamic can shift. Will they have the energy for toddler years, school runs, teenage challenges? Will they be around for the major milestones of their child’s adult life?”

“Some may view late-life parenting as selfish, but others see it as deeply intentional,” she argued, adding, “The key is that the child is loved, supported, and emotionally safe.”

Before concluding, “Older parents often bring calm, wisdom, and financial stability — all of which can create a nurturing environment, even if the timeline looks different to societal norms.”
