MAFS viewers and the show’s experts could not believe what they were watching

Fans watching along to tonight’s episode of Married At First Sight Australia were left stunned as the latest dinner party descended into absolute chaos.

Viewers based in the UK are currently being treated to the latest version of the series of the reality dating show from down under, where couples meet for the very first time at the top of the altar and build their connection from there. The results so far are largely mixed to say the least.

Over the last few weeks we’ve seen 18 couples tie the knot as soon as they met each other. Tonight’s episode airing on Thursday (March 26) saw the second dinner party of the season.

It was billed to be an explosive event with the late Mel Schilling appearing in the episode. She is seen to be saying “some relationships may be destroyed after tonight”.

The broadcaster even included a double warning before the instalment began airing. Viewers were told: “This episode was filmed before the sad passing of Mel Schilling and it contains scenes of heated confrontation.”

It didn’t start well for one of the grooms who was forced to travel to the party alone. That was after his bride, Brook, decided enough was enough and left the experiment. While travelling to the event, Chris was seen covering up the cameras filming him in the car.

Before entering the room, Chris audibly broke down in tears just before he went in. He was then heard speaking to producers saying he didn’t think he could face everyone else and ‘pretend like everything is fine’.

However, his wife made a dramatic comeback and the temperature rose from there. She told producers that she had ‘unfinished business’ but that giving Chris another chance was not part of why she returned to the experiment.

She quickly aimed her targets at other girls. At one point, Brook told Stella: “I don’t think you’re deep, I think you’re f**king dumb.”

Disability worker, Gia, and model, Brook, eventually spent the entire dinner party attacking two other brides, Stella and Alissa. Gia and Brooke told her to “go back in your kennel, babes,” and shouted for her to take her “stripper boots off”.

The scenes and behaviour from Brook just got worse and worse with fans watching at home having great difficulty to keep focus. One person sharing their immediate reaction on the MAFS subreddit admitted: “This is hard to watch..”

Another replied: “Gia telling her to get back into her kennel? That’s Vile.” With someone else adding: “This is disgusting.” One person stated: “This is quite sickening.”

As Brook and Gia continued to mock others including insulting their physical appearances, viewers reacted on social media too with one posting: “Brook is one nasty piece of work.” And another simply confessed: “I’m actually speechless.”

Married At First Sight Australia airs Monday – Thursday at 7.30pm on E4 and streaming on Channel 4.
