Nearly a month after the tragic fire in Crans-Montana, a miraculous survivor has spoken out to BFMTV. The 28-year-old Frenchman explained that he has very few memories of the night, as he quickly lost consciousness and woke up a week later in the hospital. He is now denouncing security failures and pointing out the bad faith of the owners, who are accusing their employees.

Gaëtan, who was working at the bar Le Constellation on December 31, 2025, is among the survivors of the horrific fire that left 40 dead and over a hundred injured.

“I don’t even know how I got out” On the night of the tragedy, Gaëtan was on the first floor when the fire started in the basement. “I remember the first screams… a feeling of panic took over. People crowded the stairs, creating a bottleneck,” he says. He recalls trying to protect his airway with his arm and pulling someone along before blacking out. Burned over 10% of his body and suffering from severe smoke inhalation, he only regained consciousness on January 7.

“It’s too easy to dodge responsibility” With ten years of experience, the bartender claims he received zero fire safety training and saw no fire extinguishers at his station. He even revealed that two weeks prior, he helped the owner glue back decaying acoustic foam using an unknown adhesive.

While the owners, the Moretti couple, accused an employee of locking a service door and trapping victims, Gaëtan refuted this version entirely. “It’s too easy to clear your conscience. I find it sickening,” said the survivor, who noted that his bosses haven’t even contacted him to check on his well-being since the tragedy.
