A HARROWING minute-by-minute timeline has revealed how a twisted dad’s massacre unfolded before sunrise, leaving eight children dead and a city in shock.

Police say Shamar Elkins gunned down eight children, including seven of his own, in a domestic rampage that stretched across two homes before ending in a police shootout.

In Shreveport, Louisiana, cops said the first desperate call came in at 5:55am from someone on top of a house in the 300 block of West 79th Street.

The caller told dispatch a suspect was inside, and that a male had been shot, Police Chief Wayne Smith said.

By 5:58am, dispatchers were told the gunman was a relative of the caller.

A minute later, at 5:59am, the caller said around nine people lived at the home and that Elkins had shot everyone inside.

At 6 am, the caller said she and her children had made it off the roof and were now in the backyard.

Officers arrived at the scene at 6:01am.

By 6:03am, police had made contact with the caller at the house.

Around 6:05am, officers asked Shreveport firefighters to stage near Linwood Avenue as the scale of the bloodshed became clearer.

Then, at 6:07am, police got a second shooting call from the 500 block of Harrison Street.

That caller said her boyfriend had shot her, taken her three children and fled.

At 6:08am, the wounded woman identified the suspect as Elkins.

By 6:10am, dispatch linked the Harrison Street and West 79th Street shootings as related.

Police have said many of the children who were killed were found at that house.

One child was found dead on the roof after trying to escape.

Another child survived by jumping from the roof, though police said he was hurt in the fall and later taken to hospital.

At 6:15am, officers learned Elkins had carjacked a red Kia Sportage near West 79th Street and Linwood Avenue.

Two minutes later, at 6:17am, patrol officers spotted the vehicle heading south on Interstate 49.

At 6:18am, they reported crossing the Red River bridge into Bossier City.

By 6:20am, officers were told the children believed to have been taken from Harrison Street might be inside the fleeing vehicle.

At 6:23am, police said the chase was moving off the interstate near Swan Lake Road in Bossier City.

Around 6:25am, officers found the wounded victims from the Harrison Street shooting.

At 6:29am, police said officers made contact with Elkins through an exchange of gunfire.

A minute later, at 6:30am, officers confirmed contact with the suspect in the 400 block of Brompton Lane in Bossier City.

By 6:40am, police said the suspect’s vehicle was empty and no children were inside.

At 6:43am, officers cleared the West 79th Street home and found multiple dead victims inside.

Elkins was pronounced dead at the scene on Brompton Lane at 7:03 am.

At 7:14am, Shreveport police contacted Louisiana State Police to begin the investigation into the officer-involved shooting.

Police said two adult women survived the attacks, though both were badly hurt.

The children killed were identified as Jayla Elkins, 3, Shayla Elkins, 5, Kayla Pugh, 6, Layla Pugh, 7, Markaydon Pugh, 10, Sariahh Snow, 11, Khedarrion Snow, 6, and Braylon Snow, 5.

Smith called it one of the worst days in the city’s history.
