Kay Robertson was just 16 years old when she married Phil Robertson. They exchanged vows in 1964 and legally tied the knot a few years later. Long before the two were on Duck Dynasty with their family, they were building a life together.
Phil was 79 years old when he died in May after months of dealing with his Alzheimer’s diagnosis. But where did he stand with Miss Kay at the time of his death? Scroll down for what we know about their relationship.
Were Phil Robertson and Miss Kay still together?
Yes, Phil and Miss Kay were together when he died. She was by his side amid his declining health. Their daughter-in-law, Lisa, posted a photo of the longtime couple holding hands on May 24, just one day before Phil died.
“Almost 65 years of dedication to each other,” she captioned the post. “There were a few years that it was one sided. Then God… He changed them & their future! & their Legacy lives on!”
Although Kay had been dealing with her own medical issues as Phil’s health declined, she was still with him during his final days.
How long were Phil Robertson and Miss Kay separated?

Things weren’t always peachy in Phil and Miss Kay’s relationship. In fact, they separated for three months during the early days of their marriage. The separation came amid Phil’s struggle with alcoholism, as well as his admission that he was unfaithful to her.
However, Miss Kay eventually went back to her husband. “I attribute a lot of [sticking with Phil] to my grandma,” she told Fox News in 2014. “She was such a stickler for staying with your marriage. She always used to say, ‘You have to fight for your marriage.’”
How many kids do Phil Robertson and Miss Kay have?
Phil and Miss Kay shared four sons: Alan Robertson, Willie Robertson, Jase Robertson, and Jep Robertson. Through their children, they also welcomed several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In 2020, Phil found out that he had an adult daughter named Phyllis. He fathered her during an affair he had in the 1970s, and she found him through DNA testing nearly 50 years later.
Phyllis was welcomed into the Robertson family with open arms. Miss Kay was extremely supportive of her husband having a relationship with his daughter.
“Phyllis Robertson Thomas is the daughter I always prayed for,” she wrote on Facebook. “I’m grateful for every day we get to spend with her. When we met, it hurt her to think her presence might hurt me. But she was never a painful reminder of those days when Phil ran wild. Instead, Phyllis is a beautiful reminder of what God can do in our lives.”
