Underwood spoke out about rumors of her salary

CARRIE Underwood’s rumored salary for Sunday Night Football has left NFL fans stunned.

There are claims that Underwood is paid $1 million each week to do the Sunday Night Football theme song.

And with the season being 18 weeks, she stands to make an astronomical $18 million per year.

This salary has piqued the interest of fans after SNF’s 2025 debut last weekend.

Many took to X to express their opinion on the fee.

One fan wrote, “That’s insane!”

Another commented, “During the intro, I don’t have the Sunday scaries and forget I have to work the next day.

“So that’s money well spent.”

A third remarked, “It’s crazy money, but she’s part of the entire brand now.”

One even joked, “I’ll do it for $17m.”

However, Underwood denied these claims in an interview with Howard Stern in May 2023.

Stern, 71, asked, “The money ain’t bad. Is it true it’s 18 million dollars a year?”

Underwood responded, “For me?! No! It’s pretty pro-bono.

“I wish! That’d be great.”

Underwood’s actual salary for the Sunday Night Football gig remains a mystery.

The first SNF in 2025 took place last weekend as the Bills hosted the Ravens.

Fans fell in love with Underwood’s rendition of the theme tune, with some demanding she perform at the Super Bowl this year.

The 42-year-old won season 4 of American Idol in 2005.

She was originally offered the gig by NBC off the back of this win, but turned it down.

Instead, Pink (one season) and Faith Hill (six seasons) performed the opening for the first few years.

Eventually, however, when Hill stepped down in 2013, SNF asked Underwood again and this time she agreed.

SNF has started its 20th year, with Underwood performing the opener for her 13th back-to-back season.
