Netflix is turning one of Denzel Washington’s most popular movies into an episodic series
Netflix has unveiled the first glimpse of an eagerly anticipated series that appears destined to be an explosive reimagining of ‘Denzel Washington’s finest film’.
The series Man On Fire is scheduled to arrive on the streaming service next month. Whilst many viewers will regard the title as a reboot or remake of the acclaimed movie, which is also presently available on Netflix, both productions are actually adaptations of the book series penned by A.J. Quinnell.
According to its synopsis, the series will follow the story of John Creasy. A former highly capable and experienced Special Forces Mercenary, renowned for enduring the harshest of circumstances, Creasy now struggles with severe PTSD.
Resolute in his quest to conquer his inner turmoil, he embarks on a journey towards redemption.
However, before he can settle into this fresh chapter, he discovers himself thrust back into danger, battling more fiercely than ever before , reports the Mirror.

In the novels, the character bears the name Marcus Creasy and is portrayed as an American-born ex-member of the French Foreign Legion. The series appears to be adopting the film’s approach by renaming him John
A. J.Quinnell authored five novels in the Creasy series altogether, with the inaugural book bearing the title Man on Fire.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is assuming the role of John Creasy, originally portrayed by Washington. Abdul-Mateen recently impressed audiences with his performance in Marvel series Wonder Man, whilst his earlier work includes Ambulance, Candyman and The Matrix Resurrections, where he inherited the character of Morpheus.

Joining him in the cast is True Detective star Scoot McNairy and comedian and actor Bobby Cannavale, who has previously appeared in The Watcher as guest stars.
The film version of Man On Fire was originally released back in 2004 and some fans regard it as establishing the foundation for the more recent wave of revenge films. It was directed by the late British director Tony Scott, who also helmed the first Top Gun, True Romance and The Grey starring Liam Neeson to name just a few.
Netflix’s episodic version will need to meet a high standard set by Washington’s big screen outing, which remains beloved by fans.
As one posted online: “This is one of Washington’s best movies. One of the few movies that puts a lump in this old man’s throat Especially the end. I’ve probably watched this movie 10 times. If you have not seen it, watch it, you won’t regret it.”
Someone else simply claimed: “This movie is one of the best movies of all time.”
Netflix also released a trailer for the forthcoming series and it looks set to deliver action-packed episodes whilst it also confirmed the release date.
Man On Fire is streaming on Netflix from April 30.
